I pretty much went to hear the Lethal Industry mashup live, and got what I wanted. (Lethal Industry for me is the greatest tune to hear live!!)
He dropped his usual stuff.. 2-3 of the Oceanlab tracks. The first hour was kind of forgettable, but he picked up towards the end. Towards the end he played :
Rank 1 vs Cosmic Gate - Great Escape + Find Yourself Mashup
Pascal Feliz - Platinum (some remix, Ben gold maybe)
Myon & Shane - Silence Collision mashup
Dustin Zhan - Stranger to Stability (whats with every trance jockey dropping this tune?)
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes + Gareth - Exposure
Nothing groundbreaking here ~ but was still fun.
On an off note... was listening to PvD's Set @ Amnesia, Ibiza from August on the way home and this set is just nasty. |

I don't know why PvD doesn't play like that everywhere he goes ~ he has it in him he's just inconsistent.. still my favorite though :p |

I decided to go even though I was tired and didn't want to go to Opera. I did say Gareth was one dj who could bring me back out to Opera though. Gareth was pretty good. I could see how he could be awesome. I really enjoyed the set, but as everyone else said, the beginning especially was a little lacking. The second half really picked up and he played some good tunes. Near the end there were a couple of songs I didn't care for, but there was a good period where he played some Oceanlab mixes and other things I was feeling. Anyone know what the encore was, I kind of liked that one?
As usual, Opera sucked. The crowd, as mentioned, was filled with losers. It was crowded, but not packed to the gills. I had a little room to move unlike some shows. The bouncers succeeded in not letting me get a picture with Gareth after the show. This one douche bouncer literally stepped between me and Gareth.

Yeah, I always hear these awesome sets from him and then he comes to Atlanta and his sets just don't do much for me here. |

| man that opener was weak, what the hell is up with opening with hip hop mashup dj's for gareth emery.. otherwise gareth was alright, nothing too special last night. |

wow you guys are hard to please!
this was my first time seeing gareth live and i didn't think he disappointed at all. really happy he opened with a track like c'mon... got the place going quickly. and then heaven scent! i mean that's what's awesome about gareth... he appreciates the music and brings in a classic every now and then. rest of the TL was good too.
thx devin for bringing him to ATL finally... i hope it was considered a success and will happen again sometime soon! |

Oh man. I totally forgot to rant about whoever was opening... don't ever bring him back before a TRANCE DJ ever, ever again. He completely ruined the mood with his ing 80's and hip hop vocals played 2x as loud as the house/trance track behind it. ING. TERRIBLE. My friends and I laughed our way through his entire set.
And I'm not even hating on the man, that's his style and he does it well, but he should never open for a trance DJ.. never... ever.. never... NEVER again. |

Keithos, I thought he was great, but he played some stuff I, and others, just don't care for. When you think about it though, what dj doesn't throw in some house crap. Maybe coming after that awful opener messed him up at the beginning. Speaking of which, I thought I was in the wrong room when I heard the opener. I mean, as said, that stuff should not be played before a trance dj. Still one of the better djs I've seen though. Thanks Devin for getting someone like him here.
AlexiM, have you been going to these shows awhile? There's someone who I have seen at every show I've been to for a couple years now who I've been tempted to ask if he's a tranceaddict. I saw said guy during that opener and when you mentioned you were laughing with your friends at him, I thought I'd ask if it could be you. |

For about 2 years now.. only listened to EDM in general for about 5 years. I've lurked on these forums forever but never posted ~ now I feel like I actually know what I'm talking about and can have valid opinions so I've begun posting more :p .... sometimes!
If you saw me I was next to my cousin and the blackest dude you have ever seen near the back speaker when the opener was on. I'm on the left in this photo http://yfrog.com/4c13703638j (ugly I know :p)
I'd love to meet some TA's at these events, I just feel odd walking up to people going "TRANCEADDICT? YOU A TA?!?!". So say Hi to me when you see me next time and introduce yourself ~ we are friendly people. |

I was showing a text to some guys with the glowsticks in the back working on their moves.. the text said "Worst Opening DJ ever?" and we laughed.
Here's the 3 of us..... we were there for the whole thing.. including the horrible opening dj :(
