Electronic Purity 2 (Music Research Tribute) [old school trance / acid / hardcore]

Been feelin' the classics again lately, so decided to make another one of these. If you need a refresher as to what Music Research actually is, check out my first Electronic Purity mix for the background on this old label from Talla 2XLC.

As for what you can expect in this one, there's spacey melodies, speedy rhythms, raw acid, booming beats ...much like the last one, heh. All told, it runs an easy 71 minutes (...or does it?). I think my mixing's improved since, though there's undoubtedly a few phrasing issues here and there - they shouldn't detract much.

I should mention that EP2 isn't strictly a Music Research showcase. Three tracks were actually released on other labels, but the artists that produced them did most of their breakout work on MR, so what the hey. Also, one other track didn't seem to be released anywhere else but the Hypnotic Recordings compilation I got it from ...which had a couple Suck Me Plasma cuts on it. Yes, that's my excuse for including it here.:p

That all out of the way, here we go!

Yes, this strikes my fancy. Really good start, it slammes in right away. Hooks you in. Glorious bass lines throughout. Plenty of nostalgic fun. Maybe not quite as much tunes and variety as the last one but meh.
I won't make the same mistake I did last time in commenting neurotically on minor mixing issues that cease to exist after a few listens. Really enjoyed it.
I usually put it on while playing scrabble with friends. Very cosy I say.
