Having previously released two EP’s back in 2005 and 2006 for the now-defunct Native Collective label, UK producer Chris Colburn has found fresh inspiration from a revived and maximised techno scene and is set to make a return via this three-track EP for Alan Fitzpatrick’s 8 Sided Dice imprint.
Stone Town leads off the EP in typical 8 Sided Dice style. Heavy and relentless in its construction, this purposeful and building track has a production style founded on subtle changes in how the elements combine.
Caramel picks up the pace to deliver a full-force tribal banger that progresses its simple groove through a series of builds and short breaks while constantly raising the intensity via layers of tightly programmed beats.
Werk It Out offers a stripped back and minimized take on melodic tech house with a robotic groove and playful bleeping hook contrasting well with dark atmospherics via echo-laden effects and shimmering vocal snippets.
