Come join us this Friday for the final School Bakery patio party of the summer!
MIKE GIBBS - http://www.myspace.com/dirtypunk13
Toronto DJ/producer Mike Gibbs got his start in the underground as a singer for local industrial bands DHI, Pure and Love Bomber, that toured with Skinny Puppy, Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. He moved on to playing live techno at raves in the late '90s with local outfit Transformantra before travelling to Asia where he honed his craft as a DJ. After headlining Ministry of Sound in Taipei, Taiwan, Gibbs returned to Toronto circa 2002 and sidestepped the city's mainstream club scene for underground warehouse parties, playing his dark, glitchy, industrial-layered laptop beats. Frequently on the bill for the much-loved Promise events, Gibbs is also a member of the popular Box of Kittens crew, who recently celebrated their second anniversary with guest Marc Romboy. Mike will perform at this year's Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
ALEKSANDRA - http://www.djaleksandra.com/
Aleksandra has peaked on the coveted beatport charts for her production, “Sibling Rivalry,” which she co-produced with her brother, Jake Chec. She was featured on Hi-Bias' Compilation CD - "Canada's Finest House Vol. 2." She’s opened for the likes of Steve Porter, Alex Kenji and Hatiras, and has been on the same bill as Sasha, Erick Morillo, Hernan Cattaneo, John Acquaviva, Benny Benassi, Paco Osuna, Christopher Lawrence, ATB and Ferry Corsten.
By far not a one-dimensional DJ/producer, Aleksandra delivers a blend of chunky, rolling, phat tech-house and techno but adapts her sound to any venue setting whether it is underground or commercial. Her versatility and programming is what keeps Aleksandra one of Canada’s fastest risers within its electronic music scene. Since purchasing her very first turntables at the tender age of 16, she’s played all the major cities across Ontario and landed a coveted residency at Canada's #1 club The Guvernment, where she has also played at its annual Freedom event. She has repeatedly rocked other renown clubs including Comfort Zone, Footwork, Boom Boom Room and Film to name a few.
