All I need now are needles.......bkim00, I took a look at the shure needles.....I'm not gonna be doing alot of scratching.......probably like 90/10.

check out the Shure M44G... it's basically a redesigned M447 geared more towards mixing. It retains most the extreme grooveholding power of the 447, but has better sound quality and works better at lower tracking force (helps your vinyl last longer)

I like them quite a bit! They are very solid on the record, hard to make skip. Sound quality is quite nice too :)

These M44 7 are the best in scratching and they have minimal wear compared to ortofon carts ....

for more info go to this site turntablelab.com

I'm not a needle guru by any means, but here's how I see it. I have the Stanton Diskmaster 2's. First set of needles I ever bought to put on my first set of turntables I ever bought. They get the job done, Sound quality is very good and tracking is very good for everyday mixing. Now, if you want to get the Ortofons just to say that you have the best, then you should definatly shell out the extra cash. I plan on upgrading to Ortofons when my Diskmasters need replacing. But for the time being, I got my needles for 80 bucks for the pair at GuitarCenter. Put money into equipment where it matters the most, TT's, Mixer, headphones. Then spend every friggin dime you got on records. hehe.
Dj Fred Lamar
Did you go to the actual GuitarCenter store.....I didn't see an online catalog on their site....
bkim00
Guitar centers online store is Musiciansfriend.com. However, the prices on their online site are pretty high. If you want to get anything from guitar center, you should find an online store with a good price and go into the store and price match for the equipment you want (ie. needles).

Alright....here are my choices:

The lowest I found for Vestax PCV-275 is $$369.95 @ audiolines.com

The lowest I found for Sony 7506

The lowest I found the Stanton Discmaster II Cartridge $44.95 @ audiolines.com
The lowest I found the Stanton Discmaster II Stylus(1) 19.99 @ planetdj.com
The lowest I found the Stanton Discmaster II Stylus(3) 54.99 @ pssl.com

As for the needles....will get Ortofon as soon as I make some extra cash.

Thanks for the info TAs......will not start buying equipment till Aug. so if you still hve comments about the aboves items....please tell me.......also this audiolines.com site is pretty cheap.....are they good at shipping......:D

Why are you choosing the technics headphones? I haven't heard that many good things about them. I'd recommend the Sony 7506 which you can get at GuitarCenter for 90 bucks if you haggle with them a bit.
Dj Fred Lamar
What bad things have you heard about the Technics?

What makes the Sony one better......also.......can you hear the sound clearly in a noisy club....
MERiDiAN5i2
as for headphones... The 7506's are supposed to be one of the best out there.. or Sanheiser 280 Pro's.

I use sony MDR-V700DJs and I really like them... but it seems that alot of people dont... probably because of the super-inflated bass they provide

will give the Sony headphones a try......:D

The Technics 1210's (silver) block out a lot more compared to the 7506 or the 700's. I compared these with my friends and also found that the 1200 (black) have a lot more plastic than the 1210's (silver) and have a stronger build. You can also tell the difference in the sound they block out with the 1210's block more out. So get this pair.. also $130 is a very expensive price. On eBay they sellf ro $90-$100 new and even at retail stores for $100-110.

The 7506 do have very very good quality. Its just that if you dont really care in the sound quality department and want good looks the 1210's are pefect. Though if you wanna also use ur phones for listening to music (not DJ'ing), the 7506 would be more preferable. If you decide to get the 7506 and cant find prices under $100, you can purchase the Sony MDR-V6 which is exactly the same as the 7506 though it may just be old stock.

So its your decision.
