i also said my opinion about software editors but people are free to try themselfs of course. my experience was unbelievable crappy and i have ALOT more respect for early producers now after going through that , how did they manage to deal with such crappy technology? the only reason why Virus sounds unoriginal is because everyone got one. as far as I understand the blofeld is a mix between microQ and microwave XT (or whatever that wavetable synth was called), and if the USB-function for editing sounds is good it might be an awesome synth yes, and the price is great, but the sounds are actually over 10 years old. but some of the point with hardware is gonne if youre gonne edit it from the computer anyway, u loose the freeform act. my own opinion is that hardware is worthless.

I had both a Q and WaldorfMicro wave at one point. It really does have alot more bite and although it purports to be a combination of both, I really do think it sounds different. I think the reason like it is that it can sound incredibly aggressive.
nortek
maybe it has better dacs or something. im pretty sure the "engine" or "code" is the same the Q + XT, but with more parts and polyphony, and efex. Which gives is subtractive (from Q), wavetables (from Wave) and FM (from XT?), and therefore alot of possibilities. SO yeah its a beast. If it only had knobs to control everything directly.
its pretty sick to think about. that little white box has both these inside plus more:
imagine adjusting all those parameters with only 4 knobs.

but you don't need the knobs as it is easily done with software. I think you need to invest in more screens.

I think what nortek is saying is that "s/w editing" is bringing you back to the computer again, thus defeating the purpose in a way...
I liked the sounds of what ive heard of the Blofeld tho, its definetly got a different tone about it somehow, i did demo Largo before but unbelievably it didnt have a midi learn function

Im actually preferring the sounds of the Nord to the Prophet, sure the prophet has a fully analog signal path and all that but i dunno, just not appealing to me, although im sure if i actually tried one id probably like it.

ive been in love with it for a little while now..
just one of those synths ive been drawn to more then others for some reason..
i guess mainly because...of the soft..sound that it has..plus it looks really cool..
going to cost an arm and a leg though, and it will probably be my first major purchase with anything..
this guy probably got it for free..

I don't quite think he knows what after touch is.
Waza
MFB your so right what a twat
Mad for Brad
well I wouldn't go that far but I have a feeling he thinks after touch is the way the filter behaves after you push the keys down and not the sensor of the keyboard as you raise the keys and at what velocity.
Waza
well he's supposed to be a musician everyone knows the basics do they not?
