Is this really what quality dance music sounds like these days? I almost hate this.

No, I think this is pretty cheesy. It's like epic trance at 110bpm. Some of the background atmospherics are cool though.

The vocals sound like a bad 80s pop song. I was bobbing along for the first 30 seconds and totally didn't expect any vocals to come in and spoil it. Really made me cringe at the beginning when he's doing that call-and-answer with the naff guitar riff.
I don't want to on this track too much because it's not that bad, but it needs a dubbed out remix for me.

nah man, we all have our personal preferences. i love the vocals personally but i also respect your personal opinion regarding the song. however, for a rather popular/commercial artist, the lyrics actually have depth and emotion (in my opinion). they seem to actually explain feeling rather than talking about not being able to pick up lady gaga's telephone (even though i have a guilty pleasure of listening to her)

imo, one of the best male singers ive heard in quite a while.
he seems to do mostly acoustic stuff, but with this kind of song, he might pick up a few more EDM vocal spots.
