wall mounts or speaker stands

Hi all,

at the moment I have my speakers mounted to my wall as I've only used them for mixing in the past. Now Ive started producing I'm looking to move them lower as they are too high where they are at the moment. I'm wondering for production reasons if it were better they were on stands or is it fine just to move the wall mounts to suit..

thanks

you really want tweeters at ear level and for the speakers to be away from the wall/corners as much as possible.

So mounts.

thanks thought that maybe the case??

any recommendations on what to buy???

depends on the monitors, lots of them already have screw-holes and suited stands from same brand. check those first.

I have only got a pair of jbl control 1's at the moment. My plan is to get new speakers in the future. Had a look with jbl but they dont really do anything to suit.

if u plan on switching monitors then just wait i buy someone who are suited for stands/wall mounts like focal cms, genelecs and many others. im planning on getting desktop stands for my genelecs and im considering orignal genelec stands or something else:

last two being the original genelec one but its expensive. i think im gonna try some cheap solutions like the first one. but first i need a desk lol.

ive just built my desk and this is the last thing that I need for now. Nice stands thanks for the recommendations.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread..

I'm now considering making my own stands. Has anyone ever done this before?? What materials would be best suited for the job??

Thanks

First, you're not looking very hard if you haven't found the new JBL LSR 2325p's which are a huge upgrade from control 1's.

And yes, I made my own stands and they are ing great een if I do say so myself.

You'll need:

Four of these:

Two of these:

I used 1 1/4 inch but you could easily do 1 or 1 1/8.

Screw the flanges in to the pipe then cut rectangles out of MDF to fit you speakers footprint.

Spray them with hammerite (i chose a nice metallic dark grey), then you can either screw the bottom flange in to your desk or use incredibly strong double tape (which I did and works like a charm).

Way cheaper, much stronger and made exactly to order.
