The concept of Request began in the year 2008, when I asked a close group of friends and family to
send me their current and all time favourite tunes. I took the collection and attempted to form
a compilation of the requested tunes, hoping that the next person who hears the compilation
will discover a new artist, a new favourite tune, remember a classic or simply just
enjoy what the music represents to him/her.
The compilation is split into two categories: Current and All Time, requesting 2 favourite
tunes under each category. I wanted to create an opportunity where the listener/clubber
feels part of something much bigger than just supporting, to provide a platform where the
listener/clubber gets a say in what he/she wants to hear. The challenge as a Dj is to combine
and connect these requests in the form of a compilation.
Two years has passed and the concept seems to be growing a little bit each time. I'm hoping by
this time next year everyone that has a copy of the compilation would have a say in Request 2011.
