agreed but it all depends on many factors, who is playing, what kind of vibe it is, what time is he dropping this particular part. I have a hard time believe james zabiela stopped music for 2 minutes to let some melody play but i can see seth troxler or james holden doing that np and it will be good. A lot of times you just have to listen with your ears, dancing is not always mandatory to appreciate a set.

James Zabiela.

When I saw Carl Craig it was nothing but a bunch of crappy white noise, big room Techno interspersed with generic 90's House and Carl Craig classics. Think Dubfire's remix of Spastik into some ty 200x remix of Good Life.

I used to be huge into Zabiela, but just sort of faded out of his stuff over the last three years or so. To be honest, I haven't heard anything he has done recently, but I've heard great things (see: System-J's reference to his recent EM). Plus, he's technically fantastic.

Definitely Zabiela for no reason except that I've loved his EMs.

Sounds pretty grim. He's playing at some "Ibiza party" in front of a couple of thousand people too, so it will definitely edge towards the big-room stuff.

Thanks for the info, guys. Next time it's a choice of Magda, Mr Scruff or Lee Coombs!

mr scruff can't mix for , but is his music a breath of fresh air.

i'll get to the zabiela em. i don't really listen to em's in general because pete tong is a bag of wank, and james hasn't really done anything in the past little while to make me go out of my way. I might eat my crow.

So I listened to the EM...i actually enjoyed parts of it quite a bit. Plur and Bass/Breaks is just not for me i guess.:p

It would depend on the type of venue for me to know if this is the type of stuff I would want to hear out. In a small place that I would just feel like having a few drinks and a seat sure, but personally it isn't what I would look for if I wanted a night of extended dancing. Then again, I don't know what you tend to do when you go out System. You don't strike me as the dancing type, I could be wrong.

You are wrong, although you can believe what you like. Granted I'm not a huge fan of dancing to drum 'n bass, but I'm not afraid of beats that don't go untz-untz-untz-untz at 126bpm all night.

My main worry with Zabiela is that there won't be anywhere to dance. It's at Back2Basics, which is one of the biggest nights in the country and I've had bad experiences with big name DJs filling up superclubs with wankers who stand in circles on the dancefloor and stroppy girls pushing through the crowd constantly looking for their friends.

Like i said before, i simply didn't know if you were the dancer type or not. You have to admit, that in many cases the "think deeply about music" people usually have 2 fingers up their own ass and their feet firmly planted on the floor; albeit from a couch.

I just don't think that Zabiela is the guy to make me want to sweat so much that i have to burn my clothing. It in no ways means he is . (just boring ):p

Looks like Zabiela wins. Carl Craig is always playing, anyway. He'll be around again before long.

good choice!
and about it being too packed....most likely its gonna be bad....
but JZ is completely worth it! He killed it when i saw him in LA last march.

Skip Carl Craig for all the reasons listed above. Not going to vouch for zabiela though - I cant stand the star wars efx.

As for your other choice... Mr Scruff is awesome. Highly recommended. Great selector
