iRiver for the win.

But I just tend to use my phone these days anyway.

My first mp3 player was a 64mb iRiver in 2002, and the thing worked great.

Then I got an iPod Mini first generation and after a year and a half the battery crapped out. So I went on Amazon, bought a third party battery, opened the iPod myself and replaced it, which gave the device another six months of life before dying again.

I've been using a 30gb Zune since June 2007 and the thing is a ing rock...no software issues at all, the battery works great (I use the hell out of this thing), and it's really durable. The sound quality is so much better when doing side-by-side tests with iPods.

Other family members of mine have had iPods and they all crapped out within a year and a half too.

Bottom line, don't go with Apple products. Not only do they suck hardware-wise, but you're stuck using iTunes too, which is a bloated piece of software.

Go with anything from Microsoft, Cowon, or Sandisk.

My first iPod, a 20gb, one of the originals, worked fantastic for 3 years, then I bought one of the classic 80 gb and it's worked great for the last 2 years. I'm tempted to get a 160 gb one, though.

Too much damn music!
LAdazeNYnights
yeah i just got the 160gb one :)

Your are like my mother only she does it with phones.

Every year she'll get through knows how many hands sets.

I bought this from bestbuy 3 years ago, so there I guess i was ed buying it from there; I use in my car, using the Ipod dock and at the gym, never leave it in my car, especially during the hot summer days down here, but who knows after the first one failed; return it and got a new one "reused and made to look new Ipod" probably knowing bestbuy, since they are such cheap bastards and now I got an email from the seller saying the ipod is probably bad since the thing has been charging for a day, so probably my bad luck; nice to see some peeps have had the same one for 2 years and no problem, dam must be nice so my plan is to buy the same one at a reasonable price not from bestbuy

Seriously? :wtf:

The retailers don't make the product.

You've gone through 4 of them that were , and you still want the same product?

Why not do a little research and check out one of the other (extremely good) brands out there that people in this thread have mentioned? Or is the Apple brand important to you for some reason other than failing hardware? :conf:

You're saying there are other companies out there making these mp3 player devices?
