Have people actually ever used them? They're a ing pain in the arse to progrem, don't really sound that good apart from one particular use and are incredibly limited.

Most 303's don't even sound like each other and they don't age well in build quality (I've seen three units which started to sound crappy because the caps we're ageing).

I think it's just because they started acid house and they are so rare.

They're like deloreans. cars, but people love them because of their odd place in history.

The ones in my sig.

Actually, the one synth I lust over that I've never owned is the Waldorf Q+.

100 voices, 16 analogue filters, and all that knobby goodness....drool.

Must anything else be said?

I say this simply because its the hardest type of sound I know of to produce. Software has kicked the crap out of most other sounds.

Really? there's probably more clones and emulators made for that then any other synth in history: Rebirth, xoxbox, tbx303, tb3031, ARBassline2, FR777,d16's phoscyon, etc, etc, etc.

If anything it's possibly one of the easiest sounds to get your hands on, and Bassline2 is as most people now agree, pretty damn close.
Mad for Brad
yup. People that think it is such a hard sound to replicate have never actually had one. By themselves without modifications, they really don't sound that great. Software does the job just as good. If anything, it was the distortion unit that made it what it is.

Forgot about this one!

Roland MKS-50
The MKS-50 is a rack-mount version of the Alpha Juno.

Is a 303 even of use if you dont use other old din-sync gear? Unless theres a midi mod for it and you intend to have that on it... Is there even a midi mod for it?
