those CDRS armin has wouldn't be mp3s.. teh producers would export thier tunes to wav.. not compress them to mp3 |
like you would notice the difference between 44.1 khz 16bit wav and a 192 kbps MP3 ....... ON A CLUB SOUND SYSTEM! |

There is just something different about having that absolute bomb of a track on vinyl.
Money is never wasted when it is spent on vinyl.
If the Dj is good at what they do, it doesn't matter.
I'm not a DJ, but fvck i love vinyl. |

| i dj solely off cd, puely for economic reasons, plus the fact that its absolutely impossible to get decent vinyls in ireland, any trance is almost always cheese from germany. eventually, if a get a few gigs under my belt and its all goin well, ill get myself some turntables, but ill never stop playing off cd, as john "00" fleming said, "i dj 80% of my sets off cd", so if its good enough for him, its good enough for me! |

C'mon people...you all know that sound quailty differs from one to another.
You know that mp3's have CUT frequencies that we can't hear...so if you're good at hearing...it will sound like a .
But one thing about vinly is that it really sounds cool. You know why....? Cos while recording the vinly the machine that records makes holes in the vinly...and a deeper hole means lower frequency....means more groovy!!!
That's why vinly sounds much better in clubs...becasue everywhere is full of low frequency waves even tho you don't hear them. IT makes a strong effect....

Vyinl:
Pros: Better sound quality, more dynamic mixing, entertains the crowd visually
cons: fragile and easily damaged, expensive, rare
CD:
Pros: faster cueing, replaceable, cheap, arrangeable to the users likes or dislikes
cons: less dynamic mixing, lower sound quality( perceptible only if you have extra human hearing)
My vote : CDS
I used to mix vynil but now mix cds. this change was due to the low availabilty of quality vynil in Mexico. People her more often spin cds. we buy vynil but keep it as a collection item aqnd ripit to cd to play at psrties. trust me that kickas track on vynil doesn´t sound as good after you´ve palyed it a couple hundred times. CD quality does not go down with use only with abuse. |

That's what I would do even if I was a top-notch DJ! I would have a collection of vinyl at home and for every new record I would get, I would just rip it to TOP-OF-THE-LINE GOLD CD-R and play that at the sets. After all, why don't many DJs do this? Keep their rare stuff at home, safe from getting damaged and just use the CD-Rs? Or (if no one can notice the sound difference), rip from that CD-R you just made to a 320 kbps, encoded by LAME 3.92 or better, MP3! Burn all those MP3s to CD-R and just mix with 2 of those! You have over 11 hours (almost 6 hours/disc) of high (CD to the average human ear) quality music! Are MP3-CD turntables out yet? Either one or the other method's not bad at all. |

I use Numark CDJS but the pioneers that run at about 1500 us dollars are even more kick ass. check those out if you want to use cd mixing equipment. |

One question: Do these mix MP3s that are on CD? I never mixed at all so (and don't have NEARLY enough money to get started with the kind of equipment that I like (high-end!)), I'm not even LOOKING for the equipment right now. |

Yes, they play MP3s off of CDs, or off a card.
here is a picture of these bad boys:
I would like some, but.. they are really expensive.
has anyone tried these out?
I think i would rather just get regular CD players, and burn audio CDs of what i wanted to spin. |
