Just thought I would post this track I have been hammering away at... Still has to be mixed/mastered... But for kicks I thought I would get some thoughts on it... hope it isn't too hard to listen to at this stage of the game. Enjoy it ;)

Sounds good to my ears as far as your sounds and stuff goes. I want more kick drum you don't have any I know it's not mixed etc but, where is that kick at!
Cool little piano part and overall a good track :) |

| Im actually using the silly default FL studio kick until I find a better one.... good kicks are hard to come by for me :P But thanks man |

| 1:30 to 1:50 the synth pattern you have going with the piano part doesn't seem to support the piano part as much as it could, i would try messing with that. Overall it sounds OK but I think it could use a better hook. |

| Ill take a look at it... thanks :) I kinda felt the same way... but its all subject to change. |

| The piano pattern sounds a bit static, and would probably be better with a synth playing it. I also miss some catchy hook, something that I can hum or whistle. When you get the mixing down, I think this should be quite good. |

| Yeah i know what you mean... Still in the process of figuring it out... Haven't had the inspiration flowing lately so I refuse to work on it in fear that I may ruin the original idea... |

The quite harsh syncy sound you might want to fade in gradualy - as it soon causes ear fatigue and then once faded in try automating it through a clever sound mangling filter to keep it moving - there's a few free ones that are great for this.
The syncy sound is too omnipresent for me in the chorus too.
Get a cool open hat - the one you have is too basic. You can make your own or steal from a pro track if you don't want to buy samples.
Some nice melodic ideas mate. |

| I left some comments on SC, but so far I'm liking the track. I can't wait to hear the mixed/mastered version. |

So I did some work on the melody some more.... changed the piano around a bit and added a wonderful layered pad into the mix... still in the process of coming up with a harmonic pluck sequence... but I think this new melody hits the emotional spot a lot better. We shall see. Lucky for me I have the next 2 days off, so time to work.
@Richard - I feel the same way, but I use most of my perc samples from Nexus... and it doesnt offer to much... so any information on how to create better samples or where to find them would be greatly appreciated :)
@Snake - Will check my SC soon, been a busy week.
Thanks for the wonderful/helpful feedback everyone! Hit me up with any new tracks you guys are working on, would love to give them a listen. |

| When your listening volume is too high, your ears respond better to low and high frequencies, hence why everything but your kick and bass is leaning towards the loud side. Also some instruments like the snare roll stick out too much, why turning the volume down will help in that case, too. Also be sure to high-pass anything but your kick and bass (and them only if you need to). Especially in the breakdown you have quite an offset. Also I'm finding your crash quite loud. |
