What happened to our scene?
political interference and a lack of unity to fight it. It doesnt help that there is nothing but infighting within the scene allowing the outsiders to tear it down that much easier!
I miss the 90s. But there is so much potential today if we would only recognize and act on it!

Nope...
IMHO, it started with electro...
Then went to minimal...
Thats my opinion for Guv anyway...
I think that the issues you're talking about are effecting club district for the most part...
But I really never included club district with our scene as it were...
Most of our scene's clubs are still in operation...
feelgood

I think just like every social wave, it went mainstream.
When it goes mainstream, more money is invested, and therefore theres more liability. Increased liability->tighter security-> more rules/regulations = death of the rave mentality.
I'll admit that the scene is healthier than what its been in years and its full of potential. I just hope that people can draw the separation between the proper rave mentality (the non judgmental plur mentality) and that 'pseudo rave' mentality that all the promoters try to push (bottle service, 100$ diesel shirts and jersey shore is not rave)
In fact the other day I saw a flyer advertising a 'rave' in guelph. top40/mashup/bottle service etc. Good Grief.
