I told people all the time that I slept with a fan on, and they would just stare at me in disbelief. My favorite, and most common response, was "you're a foreigner, foreigner's are stronger".
So, on top of having PHD applicants in an engineering school try to explain to me how a fan could kill me in my sleep, I can't argue with the logic of why I should live.
Other corky myth's of Korea (and I am not trying to bash Korea, I loved it there, I will move on to other countries in a later date.)
When I had pneumonia I went to the hospital and the doctor said "no cold showers, you should bath like Koreans in hot water"
I had a student tell me to my face that all American's have blue eyes (mine are brown)...
and that in America the doors are wider because everyone is so fat...this last one might be true I will have to do some fact checking on that.
My all time favorite was when a korean boy told me he could never get a Korean girl because all the girls want to be with Foreigners. I asked "why do you think they want to be with Foreigners." And he just responded (A 16 year old boy) "teacher, what do you call middle of legs?"

I sleep with an air purifier on every night. I can't sleep without the white noise. I need something running/humming to soothe me to sleep, otherwise, I get hyper-sensitive to all the creaking etc. of the house and get freaked out. Haha!

my girlfriend hates it when i sleep with the fan on. i had to explain to her that i've slept with the fan on for as long as i can remember and it DOESN'T cause death unlike what everyone believes over there. she makes it a point to ensure the fan is on my side of the bed so i block the airflow though :P
also if we ever get in a debate over something i always bring up the point that she believes in fan death and therefore anything she says could possibly be wrong. lol
