Okay people, let the listing begin!
What records released over the last year have sounded the best at festivals and clubs?
- To qualify, it must be TRANSPARENT, TIGHT, PUNCHY, DYNAMIC and obviously LOUD!
- No messy records with muddy low-end, over-loud mids and harsh highs.
The type of sound you long to produce, the tracks you A/B to get the best from your mixes! |

?
I'll start then...
Sander Van Doorn - Daddyrock
Incredibly tight, punchy low end. Very clean production. Less is more and this is proof.
Marcel Woods
Wood's productions were head and shoulders above John O'Callaghan, Wippenberg, Andy Moor etc. @ Godskitchen in Australia. Very clean, very tight and good dynamics (didn't sound squashed to a pulp). No problems with a muddy low end like the others. |

You are such a -stirrer!
Not "Hi, I'm a Waves L3 stacked on a L2 and an L1, after Ozone 4"-type loudness.
I'm talking about intrinsic loudness. Good choice of levels, placement and sounds across the freq. spectrum to guarantee a clean, dynamic, loud track.
Don't pick on one factor, when it has to be balanced by other factors too. Obviously no one in their right mind will post a track that's resemblant to some kind of Metallica loudness ... unless of course they are in a -stirring frame-of-mind *glances at Mr. Mystery* or willing to invite a world of pain. |

so anyway off-top... o' wait .... I mean to say ON TOPIC ......
....
Would you like to impart any wisdom upon this thread Mr. Mystery instead of simply picking on the finer details?
Any stellar tracks relevant to the thread that you think deserve a mention? (I'm not patronising, I'm genuinely interested) |

Still, not all tracks need to be "obviously loud" and I don't really consider it a factor when it comes to judging engineering work.
I haven't really listened to any new club music in a couple of years so I can't really list any tracks. |

| How about older records. Timeless favourites in terms of production and quality? |

| Hm, I'll have to think about it. |
