Finished at 5. No tag team.
Chilled with the crowd a bit though.

Shook his hand, had a few words.

I am so jealous of all who were there.

I can't wait to hear the reviews pour in.

friend of mine left at noon said he was amazing...and that was at noon i can only imagine what happened afterwards

sad/real part is that all we can rely on is reviews...i dont think stereo allows cameras so there will be no vid's

I actually though Danny was a little off last night. Full review tomorrow, I was there until 12:30. I'm going to bed now.

The Complete DT Experience....How can you not LOVE the guy??

The build up...The interaction with the Crowd....he paints the picture perfectly, doesn't leave anything out. The Passion and Energy he brings to the temple is like no other. If God were a DJ..
He'd be Danny Tenaglia. Really creates the perfect party atmosphere, he gets it entirely.

Behrouz, wasn't feeling his set, a little too slow but it helped build DT's spot up. The first 4 hours of DT's set, weren't great. It was actually MEhhhh. He Seemed to be feeling it out a lot more, Pacing the marathon. Let's face it, it was a long one! Maybe even making it a more intimate party. 9 Am arrived....He caught FIRE! That's when it really started. If you left early, you missed the night. I had some breaking moments at around 8 to call the night, but so happy I stayed. The system sounded excellent last night, Just Thundering, played some perfect tracks with it as well.
The classics, with some of his Mash ups, thrown in with a Dark Tribal Twist...Complete journey, Danced like a machine from 9- 3 pm.
I even saw Pablo tearing it out on the Dance floor to the sounds of DT.

Compared to the saturday in July, It wasn't the same party.
More like a continuation of the last one, But from the hours of 9-3....it was the exact same FEEL.

Then you wake up and read his Facebook Message about the experience and his thoughts on OUR City. Talk about a Solid geninue Guy. DT Rocks...

Mikey or Mike A, from this board, good meeting ya! I was wearin the Black ((STEREO)) Shirt with BE YOURSELF on the back. Nice to also meet some out of towners from O-Town & Toronto. Until the next DT experience for his 50th in March

So here's my review for saturday night.
After a solid birthday supper of all you can eat sushi, we had a little pre-party at a friend's and headed down to Stereo for 3am. I was really looking forward to catching a bit of Behrouz because I've heard so much about him.

First things first, I LOVE the new renovations. The new screens on the side stage really complete the club's decor, and the addition of the mirrors and LED lights on the DJ booth are cool as well. Lasers are always fun, and they aren't over the top either. Truly a world class club, I highly doubt there's a better club this side of the pond, but that's just my opinion. Who needs a Godskitchen Boombox when you have Stereo? The VJ did an excellent job, the visuals at around 10am were just stunning.

Got in a 3am to the sweet sound of Behrouz' deep proggy tunes, I had a nice alcohol buzz going on so I wasn't really concentrating too much on his mixing, but I thought it was solid. His track selection and the flow of his set was perfect. His set was a roller coaster ride, nice techy prog, nice build ups and just massive techno drops, only to slow it back down and then pound you into the floor again. I can understand why people say his Pure Behrouz nights are not to be missed. I thought he did an excellent job of opening up for Danny, warming up the crowd. He was playing the type of stuff I've always wanted to hear at Stereo, will definitely be going to see him next time.

At 3 the club was pretty banging, by 5 when Danny came on it was nice and full. Good looking crowd, LOADS of good looking girls, yet still some good spots to move around and dance on the dance floor. He started off with some proper house tunes, sprinkling in a few techno tracks and some vocal house. Again, around 5:30am I took probably the best pill I've ever had and was in pure bliss until around 7, so I don't remember much cuz I was just having a blast with my eyes closed reaching for TEH LAZERSZ!!!1! He was definitely mixing it up Danny style.

At 7, I Danny lost me. I walked back in from a cigarette break to a fluffy trance song at 130bpm, for him to slow it down mid-track to about 125, it just sounded so akward. If you're going to play a trance track, thats cool, but keep it at the proper bpm, the synths don't do anything for me at 125. Thereafter he was really off the mark. From 7:30-9:30 it didn't seem like he'd mix much, he'd just fade out a track, play a really cool intro-type track, a solid beat would come on, he'd sample some vocals, everyone's getting into it, white noise build up.. then.. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM pounding techno at 128-130, then repeat... deep/vocal house, I get back into a good vibe, and again, 130 bpm techno drop. Over and over and over, for like 2 hours. It was honestly so weak that I stopped dancing. I was actually pissed. If you're going to play faster techno, fine.. I love techno, but build up the flow of the set, and when you're playing techno, play techno.. don't go back to 125-126 and play housy stuff. The flow at that point was just so weak I was contemplating leaving, but I knew he'd eventually slow it down and get back to some proper house.

At 9:30, the club was still full but the dance floor was emptying, maybe everyone was getting fed up of what I was ranting about too, but he started playing some SOLID.. SOLID deep techy house, good grooving basslines, great mixing and transitions, and he'd again drop an occasional techno bomb/tribal track. Around 11am, he played a few deep progressive tracks that honestly put everyone into a trance, everyone was just vibing out it was just sick. He played some of his classics, then around 11am he came on the mic and told us he had his coffee, his egg sandwich and his PJs on and that he was ready to rock it all day long.. super cool. The song that he was playing at that point was one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.. slow progressive synths with female vocals, my buddy shazam'd it on his iphone, gonna have to download that one.. at that point people just started clapping.

Around 11:30-11:45 he started playing tech house, and just like the last time he was here, he dropped Carlo Lio - Let's Get Back and me and my friends just went ape . I was dancing like a maniac. We ended up leaving at 12:30, mentally I was good to go, just my legs couldn't take it. I strained a quad muscle and it was starting to burn, I tried stretching, but it was time.

To sum it up, I thought Danny was off saturday night. That 2 hour trainwreck from 7:30-9:30am, and his EQing was poor, maybe the sound tech was asleep but on more then one occasion the bass was just way too high, causing the tracks to get muffled and the place to just vibrate, then right after one track where the bass was way too high, the treble was just insane.. I had to block my ears with my fingers. He was also messing around with the pitch way too much, most of his set did not flow whatsoever, just killing every single time I was vibing out and really starting to get locked in. I dunno, I didn't see his laptop up there, seems to me he was using it last time he was in town in July. I still had a blast, I met new people, danced like crazy, and Danny is still awesome, but I don't think I'll be paying $60 to see him again.

Next up is Hawtin, looking forward to that as well.

EPIC reviews guys, nice job. We used to have reviews like these on TA back in the day .... until too many got T9 illiterate :p

corjay9: that two hour spot where Danny was off for you reminded me exactly of the last set of his I experienced (in 2005). I will check him out again, eventually, just not at those prices :p
