you guys gave thornton the keys to the vip with that new contract.
i like him, but he better get results oustide of the first 82.

might as well post the hot topic in the nhl right now.
go to 55 seconds if you can't wait, but the whole clip is worth watching to see how it goes.
the fan got kicked out for no reason too.
Rypien should be gone for at least 10, but sensibly it should be waaaaay waaaay longer. You don't go after a paying customer out of frustration, and for clapping.
here is to hoping it is 20.
this is how you get back at fans:p

Well last playoff he at least showed up a few times...hey its a start.
The damage was done in the offseason though. Didnt bring in anyone to fill in after Blake left. The D was already hurting. Then bring in a couple knucklehead goalies. Niemi has a wierd hunchback stance and I dont like it. Resign Wallin for way too much. Its going to be a rough one I think.:nervous:

san jose's d looks to be the biggest weakness...they have some really big, really slow guys.
habs are leading the conference while playing mediocre hockey. I'm going to enjoy it now, before we take our rightful place between 6 and 8.;p

i like this new rule, even if no one got hurt, it will reduce injuries in the long run.
chimera66
+1 to that rule, hits like that should never have been "ok" in the past
Zyklon_Jay
in the past, the players were smaller and careers were longer because of the certain respect players had for each other because most of them did not wear helmets.
players today are monsters, faster and stronger than before, and lack this same respect...not to mention all of the extra teams in the league mean less talented players...less talented players = "i need to do anything and everything to stay in the big leagues" which in turn leads to goonery.

it's in all sports, everyone is faster, bigger and stronger although players have been taking dirty hits for years. i don't think the more physical game means there is a lack of respect just a change in how the game is played.
Zyklon_Jay
i would say that the game is getting less physical in general (no more clutch and grab, interference being called now that would not have been in the past, instigator penalties for being the 2nd man in and so on...), but when the physicality does make its way into the game it is more brutal than before.
look at a player like sean avery...the rules that the nhl went along with make this player able to have a longer career. He has no respect for anything, and under the old rules would not last 5 minutes because he would be made to respect things by the players themselves by being beaten to a pulp.
the instigator rule has stopped players from being able to come to the defense cheap shots against your star players. With little fear of reprisal, or through knowing that the reprisal will cost the other team a penalty it makes sense to take runs at those guys to get game results.
the days of people like dave semenko making sure that you could not even cough on wayne gretzky are over. if gretzky played today he would not last 5 minutes.
edit: lulz

we just keep on rolling and i don't know what the hell is going on. It is still early, but I don't think anyone expected us to start this strongly.
Carey is looking really really really good.
malek
we'll take every and each point this early on... we never know how bad and for how long a choking sequence might last :p
Ian
we seem to be hit & miss but I'd rather this time than end of the season time.
