Hot on the heels of Psycatron’s epic ‘Celestial Symphony’, Marko Nastic delivers his latest 12” for Tronic – ‘In All Positions’, the label’s 60th release. Serbian Nastic has been one of the figureheads of the now massive Eastern European techno scene, having helped kickstart it during the troubled mid-90’s. Now the DJ/Producer is one of the world’s favourite artists, pushing a loopy tech-funk sound across the globe.
It’s exactly the sort of aforementioned driving, weighty sounds that we find occupying the first track of this double header, ‘In All Positions’. From the shimmering hi-hat intro to the nagging funk-laced groove the release, quite rightly, has Tronic written all over it. Sampled piano stabs and liberal vocal noise combined with such an unrelenting groove makes for a high impact tune.
For the flipside, Nastic seems to have taken in a breath of the Autumn air and delivered a moodier, more heads down cut for the dark, late nights. Low slung and slightly sinister but no less unrelenting than ‘In All Positions’, it makes for a nicely balanced 12” which will satisfy across the board.
