been wanting to move away from the whole trance genre and i really want to start making house/prog house styled tracks similar to Kaskade/insert cliche artist here type of stuff.
Something kinda like these two tracks in these links

Now i don't need the hating or whatever else if any troll happens to come along. Any one have any tips? Types of synths to use? I started reading up more on music theory and piano chords to get those "housey" vibe sound but that's all of where i am at so far.
you can check out my links to my music below in my sig to see where i'm at so far regarding production.

axwell is a big sylenth & nexus user, i run across many of his sounds while in the presets of both. just like trance, there's heavy song writing in these records so i'd say focus on that before you start worrying about bells & whistles (not literally bells and whistles fyi) |

i noticed less is more when it comes to house opposed to trance. however, progressive house can also have many complex layers as well so yea... there are a few tutorials on youtube i believe you could check out:keyword progressive house tutorial. If you're looking for 8th note deadmau5/kaskade stabs i could help you out with that a little, im sure as well as some users on this board, depends what you use some of us are use different tools to help accommodate yours. in house, its more about the groove, practice a bassline and drum / perc combo, in my opinion its a good way to start, but everyone has their preferences.
if you use, vsts synthleth v1 has good middles and lower middles to help you achieve those stabs. ask us more specific questions. |

yeah, but regarding the "modern" sound of prog house ie:mango, prior previous mau5 tracks, inpetto, anjunadeep, etc etc styled chord sequences and stabs, that's not really hard. Obviously some knowledge into theory i would assume would make those chords sound more interesting than just three notes on top of each other and s/c'ed lol. What about detuned synth sounds?
here's a sample of what i was messing around with a while back. maybe this would give a bit of help..
