here is a Little read for this friday's shindig.
Interview with DJ T Stereo Montreal.
1. You have traveled the globe and scene many a things, what would you claim as your most embarrassing moment up on stage.
DJ T. The one when Michael Jackson called me to the stage and I was too nervous to moonwalk.
2. You have definitely played a big role in the dance music community over the past years. How do you feel about the current scene and the direction the music has taken.
DJ T. The answer on this question could fill a book, so let me give a rather emotional and across-the-board answer: as a veteran its always easy to complain about changes, but I would lie if I would deny, that a lot of aspects, also spiritual ones, that made me do what I do and wouldn’t let me feel the dark side of it all went over board over the years. Nevertheless there is enough spirit left and – most of all – tons of brilliant music to find out there, that keeps me going. I simply can’t imagine what would happen if stopped playing this music and dancing to it.
3. So Thomas this is the not the first time you’ve played in Montreal you were here around the same time last year where you played at parking. Was that your first time playing in Montreal and are you excited to be back and playing at Stereo?
DJ T. No, Parking was my 2nd time, first time was years before during my first north America tour, when I played for “I Love Neon”. Montreal is one of my favorite cities in North America, always excited to come back.
4. Your involvement with Get Physical has been said to be the biggest, knowing your musical history and background. What was going on in the thought process behind the label heads when you were all picking the music you wanted to release?
DJ T. Not as much as you would assume. We were just picking what we liked from a rather emotional than conventional point of view, with exceptional wide boundaries. To not limit us as much as other labels was actually one of the driving thoughts, which seemed boring to us.
5. Last year saw the release of your Full length album titled “The Inner Jukebox” and a mixed compilation for fabric. was there any particular direction in which you chose for both, i.e in the sense one made for more listening and the other dance floor oriented or was it mostly just in the moment how you felt.
DJ T. Actually the Fabric Mix was this year. The Mix was something very personal because it reflected all the good experiences and the joy, that I brought home from my first world tour. The album was just capturing a moment, it showed a certain range of club music and moods I was into at that time.
Can you say a few words to your fans in Montreal?
I wanna see u dance your ass off, no excuses. |
