here's a trick goebble goebble

if you'Re going to troll

at least be slightly funny

otherwise it's too obvious

A for effort I guess ...
Goebbel Goebbel
i'm not trying to troll here.

the reality is that many people complain that there isn't enough new talent being booked...and when people like 13% and more take a chance and do these bookings...no one shows up.

Digweed gets booked and everyone gets a hard on...what has digweed done other than a few mediocre at best comps over the last few years? A few Nick Muir productions with his name on it?

I don't show up either, but I never intend to...I've moved on from all things club related, it just doesn't do it for me anymore.

It is trance jock fever applied to tech house, and you know it.

This is a music discussion board and I do believe that these posts fall into the category of music discussion.;)

DJ T got booked, i bet it was not a huge seller (correct me if i am wrong here.) The Leftroom night, Seth Troxler and so on and so on....

most of these new bookings represent what is actually going on right now in dance music, and they don't concentrate solely on guys that have been there forever that can sell tickets based on name only, no matter what they play, even if they aren't really as relevant as they used to be.

Could not have said it any better!

Ill never forget that night when Adultnapper came and absolutely nobody showed up.
Goebbel Goebbel
and maher, just because i hated the comps does not mean i hated your tracks, just clearing that up:p

You were, you just changed it up after. You use your extensive knowledge of dance music like a weapon against people who just enjoy it. Rather than having built an encyclopedic knowledge of it, most people get into this because it makes them feel good. You would rather think about it. That's fine. Just don't pretend that the route you took is any better, and stop trying to suck the fun out of it for others. No one's trying to do that to you here.

I know you don't really think he doesn't care what he plays. He's very smart, and stays with the curve that keeps him successful. I've heard him say in an interview "You've got to think like an 18 year old if you want to stay in this business". If he was still spinning what made him big you'd be calling him a dinosaur. What would make you happy to hear him play?

It's funny because I remember seeing you write how much you liked his last essential mix.
Goebbel Goebbel
i enjoyed his last essential mix yes, but his releases have been very weak.

every review of the cds seem to have people more excited that they are getting a "numbered and autographed copy" than the actual music itself.

should we just shut up and not discuss music in depth on here? It seems to me that once upon a time you were complaining about this section of the site being dead, we could go back to that if you would like;).

There are too many intelligent and knowledgeable people on this site not to attempt to have these kind of discussions. It does not mean everyone has to agree with each others views.

As previously mentioned, I have 0 to no interest in the club scene anymore, but i still happen to be a big fan of the music regardless of this. Find where i say my opinion is the end all to this argument.;)

Not only does it make this place a little more interesting, but i'd rather read someone going on a well constructed rant, than countless posts of "OMG SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD I DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I HOPE HE WINKS AT ME AND WILL SIGN MY FACE" like this was Tota or something.

Keep the tone you've had in the last couple posts. That makes for good discussion.

This doesnt

hey goeblle

you're preaching to the choir when talking about people not going out for new and good acts. The problem is, some people still think Digweed is good, the few times I've seen him he has blown me away. Granted every dj's are hit and miss but still.

The bigger problem right now is that the "commercial massives" are not trying to bring in new talents to their line-up and that is why we're stuck with the same acts over and over again....
Goebbel Goebbel
we used to all bitch ad nauseam in the Beb threads for years and years about this. We got tired of doing it, but guess what...all of the warnings we were giving them back then are finally starting to take hold.

Other than their flagship event, that promotion has really took a big big hit in terms of people being fed up. Cancellations and same old same old bookings leading to very lackluster ticket sales are going to catch up with them.

Maybe the novelty of massives wore off with the older crowd, and the young people aren't getting behind it like before...but the reality is that it is up to the promoter to drum up this interest and not in the client to just show up no matter what. (this could be said about the less successful nights too, but to be honest it just really looks like this city is_not where it used to be in terms of people wanting to take chances on up and coming acts or just going to afters in general.)

Many of the big guys took their client base for granted, and when they moved on (it will happen to all of us eventually, unless you are that really weird old guy in the club everyone stares at:p) they didn't work hard enough at bringing in the new generation to replace them.

Piknic got it right. Even if i dislike much of what they booked this year, the kids liked it...and the kids are the lifeblood of this industry if it is going to stay strong.

no?

I get what you're saying, but I'm sure you know how it is... I think I can speak for a lot of people in their mid to late 20s and even early 30s, following the scene is strenuous. Not only does going out to Stereo/Circus/wherever cost quite a bit of money, but it takes a toll on our bodies.. you don't feel it monday but from tuesday to thursday I'm messed up because of partying till 9am.

That's why I try to limit myself to endulging once a month... and since it's so expensive and physically demanding, I want to thoroughly enjoy myself with music that I like hearing.. I've definitely thought about going to some smaller nights at Stereo like the Drumcode/Leftroom night but when I don't know what to expect, I'm less interested.. getting a nice group to come along with you becomes harder, and being in an empty room is less appealing. Sucks but it's the truth.. hence why the mystery guest saturdays at Stereo failed.
