Since the search option seems to be currently down, and I cant look up previous posts on this... I thought I'd make a new one.
I always seems to have a problem coming up with that perfect pluck sequence to go along with the melody I am working on. I've tried to go without them but the energy always seems to lack without a nice plucky harmony going on in the build up. I've tried a few techniques to achieve it, but I always am left unsatisfied.
I usually try to follow my Pad sequence with a pluck sample and adjust the notes and position of them accordingly, but yet it still seems dull and boring. Does anyone else have this issue that makes uplifting trance? Is there really a good technique to coming to coming up with the sequence? Or is it really just choosing the right sample to make it more energetic? I'm sure its probably both, but I would love to hear some of your guys techniques you use to come up with these sequences.
Thanks a bunch!

The melodies in that video aren't similar at all, I don't get it. The rhythmic pattern is similar but there are tons of examples of repetitive rhythms in electronica of all genres, I don't know what that video is trying to show.
I usually use arpeggios taken directly out of the chord progression, find a nice rhythm that uses two or three different notes and play around with it from there. If I use a 135 chord I'll see how 3 and 5 sound, then 1 and 3, then 1 and 5, maybe switch the voicings around, add in non-chord tones just to give it some melodic movement.. it's not much of a process since there are so many possibilities, I guess you just can't overthink it. |

The video was more for reference for OP to provide a little inspiration/insight. |

Get the main melody in, simple as you like and then fill in more notes. Adjust velocity and panning then smother in delay and reverb.
Simples. |
