Stop everything you're doing. If you're listening to music, turn it off. If you're eating, stop. If you're talking to your loved ones, ditch them. If you're breathing, inhale as much air as you can and hold your breath. This deserves all your attention: read this post very carefully and do not do anything else. At all.
For some bewildering reason, the Netherlands - a country with less than 20 million inhabitants - probably has the highest amount of superstar DJ's per capita in the whole civilised world, with 300 superstar DJ's for every million farmers. Not even Finland, with Darude and all the lads from Anjunabeats can compare to the Orange invasion in EDM. But, how popular are these people? Well...
Dutch EDM Popularity Index
Tiesto | Armin Van Buuren | Ferry Corsten | Lupus
There you go: Tiesto is as popular as lupus, a general name for various serious skin diseases which also affect the internal organs and bones. That's pretty darn popular, I'd say, as far as electronic music is concerned. And it should be very concerned, because even Coldplay is as popular as Tiesto most of the time.
However, if you're familiar with Google trends, you probably noticed the red colour is missing. Why? Well, because that's the colour I used to represent the most awesome EDM producer in recorded history. Namely, Eboman:
Why on Earth isn't this all over the place? Even here on TA, Eboman's been mentioned just 23 times by people other than me. Do we need to come up with a name for this aural hotness so it can become popular? Well, may this thread be known as the first winstep manifesto, and I hope this gives the genre some more visibility. I know I'm already 10 years late, but it's not like anyone is paying attention.
EDM needs more win, and only you can make it happen. Chop-chop!

Of course it is, Mister All-drum-and-bass-tracks-sound-the-same. These tunes don't have supersaw-filled build-ups, hence they're crappy and all alike ;)

He's just mad he had to escape from the other thread since he had no leg to stand on.

Off topic, but it's interesting (for me) looking at the Tiesto and Cold Play trend graph. Both have their peaks, but Tiesto's is more constant than Cold Play's.
I suppose most of those spikes are due to tour announcements and album releases (more so for Cold Play than Tiesto).
Lira
That's a very good question, Watts. It seems that, as a whole, rock bands are generally as popular as the big names in EDM, though their popularity spikes when they release a new album.

And, in general, lupus is as popular as everyone else, even though it's never lupus :D

Which is a shame, because I'd love to pull his leg after reading stuff like this:
