After some thorough investigation , scan forums etc...
I conclude that the akg 242 are the best for me in their price range
some other considerations were sen. hd380 ...
After going to the shop and trying them out , i was soo disappointed , they sound like they lack mid range frequencies , they have some noticeable cut in the mid area ...
I wanted to test out the hd25 , but they had only the sp. model out , so i put those on , man they are very much better than those ...
Now , and this is my question , i want to get the hd25 (not the sp , the standard ones) for production , what do you think ...
my choices are few i must say ... they have only akg and Sennheiser cans |

I heard Eric Prydz is using the HD-25 when he is producing in trains and stuff. :D
You can't go wrong with the HD-25, but I am not sure how comfortable they are over the long run since they not enclose the ear. |

| i found out that producing on headphones is impossible, atleast to me. i have really no idea how its gonna sound on a regular hifi and usually it ends up really muddy. i have AKG K240 Studio for reference but i never actually mix on them, i might use them for creative stuff during the night to save neighbors and . but i hate it. |

yeah thats one of the things that got me hesitating , the capsules are small , they sit on the ears , i'm afraid they'll not be that comfortable for long hours use |

Next time you'll know to pick cans with a flatter response.
K240 are for people who produce Jazz - not EDM, i can imagine they are also too slow to handle the fast beats of EDM...:o |

Atm I have the HD-600 and love them.
Great bass response and comfortable to a point that you forget wearing headphones. |

i dont understand how genre has anything to do with it? accurate sound is accurate sound (or inaccurate actually). the 240 might be bad though, i might try something else someday. |

| AKG-701 and one sohuld always prefer open to closed cans for producing, closed cans are for tracking (prevent audio leakage to mics) |

I'm not so sure either, long reads at Head-Fi in the past thought me that only Electro-stats can handle high bpm music (if i remember correctly a DT-880 + certain amps can do a good job at it too).
I'm not going to even test this expansive though:p |
