saw juan play some random place in santa monica earlier this year at a friends event, had no idea there'd be a decent dj- thought i was in for a night of hip-electro or whatever.... and he was FANTASTIC.
made my night. the whole group i was with left as he was getting on i was like 'f you guys i'll take a taxi home' |

| I was there too, V20 lounge or something? That party was ing awful, ty resident djs and ty electro/pop/rock/dance/whatever bands. I felt really bad for him. |

exactly!!!! completely agree with you... guy i know was djing there and a friend of his i know as well opened. (first one being the guy who plays fridays@avalon i mentioned in another thread). i was chilling at their table and trying to hit on some of their ladies while enjoying the drinks that their ladies and my friend who has hair like a lady kept pouring me.
anyway. yes, it was terrible and i felt bad for juan too - one of the guys, who i subsequently no longer cared to hang out with and generally just lost respect for jumped on stage when juan's decks were screwing up and pantomimed hanging himself... fortunately he, along with all the other hipster electro kids left right after that. i'm glad i stayed, as the rest of his set was great and i really wanted to know one or 2 of the tracks he played. (i remember him telling me he opened with still going - still going theme which i really enjoyed at the time!) i was able to talk to him for a bit afterward too, he was a really nice guy. |
