Silk Textures :: Deep In Calm - Night Drive [SILKTX006]

Since his debut release with Silk Sofa just over a year ago, Deep in Calm has put together a series of tremendous releases on various elite progressive labels (JOOF, Mistiquemusic, Carica). The promising Polish artist returns to Silk with a three-track EP, once again showcasing his immense talent for crafting emotive soundscapes. The release kicks off with "You Will Pay," which opens with a quintessential deep house rhythm. Yet, there is nothing cliched about the clever vocal stabs and pad sweeps that begin to fill out the atmosphere. In the main break, a delicate piano contributes an extra layer of musicality (and elegance) to the tune. "Good Things" is an even more subdued track: highly-filtered pads and bass sounds permeate the track, creating a veritable soundtrack, perhaps, to a journey to the cavernous depths of the Pacific. Rounding out the package, "Night Drive" truly is the perfect after-hours tune for the nocturnal club-goer. Again, Deep in Calm has heavily filtered the bass here in order to highlight the gorgeous textural elements.
