But, Dash Berlin? Comes from nowhere and places #15? Above scene mainstays like Sasha, Carl Cox, Digweed, Prydz, Benassi, Daft Punk, Dubfire, etc...
BTW: Cool vids...looked like an insane event. :) |
daft punk havent toured/dj'd in years i thought? maybe im wrong- but i think im right (basing on constant searching because i want to see them so bad!)
so if im right, then how is it legit they are even ON the list???
pfffttt....
(just quoting you bc ive been thinking it for a while now and you happen to mention their name) :) |

nobody said they didn't know him. it is a surprise he's ranked so high, makes no sense to me i wouldn't have even guessed he'd place top 75. |

Yes, it's all so very shocking that we have another predictable cookie cutter list that almost no one agrees with in one way or another. Yet somehow people continue to say that they don't care about the list, don't vote, etc. but somehow the threads on the topic never cease to end. If you don't agree with something, one of the best things you could do is not support it. Whether you badmouth or praise it's still a form of publicity. |
IDK...regardless of how little stock people put into the list, the DJ Mag top 100 dj poll is still one of the biggest news items of the year in our scene. Its never NOT worth talking about really, regardless of how weird the results are.
I haven't voted in a few years, but I'm always intrigued by the results.
What does rile me up though, is to see DJs and producers taking the poll too seriously...seriously enough to actually attempt to rig the results in their favor. Thats definitely worth some good ol' internet discussion if you ask me. :) |

im sure that a better placing on the poll means you can demand for money/gig. In the end, it is a business and it's all about the paper. go out and get it, even it means paying people in india 1cent per vote |

| I always see a lot of hype on Facebook and stuff about Dash Berlin, like people being hardcore fans, I do wonder what it is that makes him so popular. |

It is big news because the public makes it so. If no one cared and they really saw it as a joke like they claim, it would not be nearly as popular. Go ahead and feel free to talk about it... I'm not talking about those who actually care. I'm talking about the hypocrites that claim they don't care but still "care" enough to whine about it.
Yes, some artists do take it too seriously. I really hate the spam, but if I was in the same position and needed the votes I would prob spam too, so I kinda understand where they are coming from. What I do feel is unfair and unnecessary are the artists that try to cleverly bribe their votes by a giveaway, contest, or offering anything else in exchange for a vote. If you are truly skilled you would not have to offer anything special to earn the vote. |
