New to ableton looking for more loops/vst plugins

hey whats up ive had ableton for a while now. i use it mostly for editing. but i have a friend who wants to make some hip hop beats and ive been trying to help him out. long story short, a lot of the things in ableton dont run w/out sampler. and the loops i do get to work sound cheezy and cheap. i'd upgrade to sampler but i fear itll be a waste of my money since i dont really like the loops in ableton. maybe i'll have more of something i dont like.
anyway i am familiar with vst's. a little. i downloaded a pack from abletons site for free. its cool. but i want more.
what is the best site for buying/getting free loops vsts? there are a lot of sites out there and i dont know what one to choose. i have tried searching google but i'm afraid to download from these sites cuz i dont know if they are legit or not. dont want viruses. dont want ripped off.
can you guys point me in the right direction? once i find a legit site i should be ok |

Oh boy...I'll ease the pain of what will probably become a train wreck of a thread by providing a helpful response.
Not sure on hip-hop loops, but if you're looking for free VSTi's - check this site out:

Some great free VSTi Synth and effects units on there.
I'd personally recommend 'Synth1' and 'OranZe' for free synths and the 'Fish Fillets' pack as a good free processing pack containing the Blockfish compressor, Spitfish de-esser and Floorfish expander.
Loads of other good freebies on there as well. |
