Nice track. Reminds me of other great EDM downtempo tracks from artists like Bent, Telepopmusik, Portishead, etc. But, it's not dance music and much too far removed from what is commonly referred to as dubstep that it really can't be categorized within that genre IMO. Maybe a very distant related sub-genre. Why don't you coin a new term for it and market the sound to make a few bucks? :p

Seasonal trends, and you can also see the winter olympics "blips" on the snowboard line. Pretty cool.

In a way, I agree that it wasn't the best example of Dubstep per-se, it was just a tune that was floating around in my head, and the point I was trying to make is that it's a very diverse genre that gets muddled by the abundance of Brostep that's enjoyed by people who have half of a functioning brain. There's a whole other side to it that's just deep and gorgeous.

It is getting a new name for it though - Future Garage, simply because the people who make this stuff want to distance themselves from what the kiddies call Dubstep (ironically, they are the same people that were an integral part of creation of Dubstep).

Anyway, more tunes that exemplify what I'm talking about (a very tiny percentage - I could go on for hours):

Future Garageish Dubstep:

ing Vex’d did a wicked remix of a Gabriel Prokofiev bit: http://www.boomkat.com/jukebox/jbFr...0411&type=music

DUBstep (Dubstep that focuses on the Dub aspect):

Just plain gangster Dubstep:

P.S. Silkie is coming to Toronto in November, if you like the sort of tunes I posted here, DO NOT MISS THIS. Flyer:

Here are a couple of tunes from his album last year:

(Wait for the piano breakdown)

He runs in the same circle of people as Mala, Kromestar, Coki, Loefah, and Quest, so you can basically expect that sort of music.

Yeah, I'm a tad obsessed with this, lol.

Regarding dubstep: I'm not much of a fan, but if there's one thing that it deserves credit for, its for achieving such a high level of popularity without ever commercializing ("selling out"), its a real "underground" movement, I suppose. You won't see dubstep producers collaborating with commercial rappers, or in Hollywood movies, or TV commercials, or videos on MTV/Much. Its become popular because people seem to actually really like it.

As for trance, its no wonder its been losing popularity when its been getting consistently tier since the late 90s (there still was a lot of quality tracks being released through the first half of the 2000s though).

I miss this kinda stuff...

Even better was the hard trance of the mid-90s, though that genre has never really lost its quality, just popularity.

Another thread, that turned into a Dubstep love/hate discussion thread. lol

I'm lovin' Dubstep lately. Although, I agree, there is TONS of Dubstep out there. I find a lot of it way too repetitive, loud and obnoxious. I find I prefer tracks with lyrics...it breaks up all da loud noize. lol

This remix is diiiiirrrrrrrrty.
