Hi, We did an interview with Virtual Vault (Black Hole Recordings), revealed by Tisto, because he mixed the second CD of the compilation "Trance 2010" which was released exclusively in the french market.

Personally, I like his music. Don't hesitate to comment about him.

Interview realized by "DJ News Mag", partner of "Trance in France" ! http://www.djnews.be

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Hi Ben, it's a great pleasure to receive you, how are you today?

Virtual Vault : Hi Adrien, I'm doing very well today! Enjoying my morning cup of coffee and waiting for the sun to start shining!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : You are a young Dutch trance Dj Producer, what can you say about you, about your musical influences and where did this passion for the trance music come from?

Virtual Vault : We have a national TV-station called TMF, and they used to broadcast a program called "The DJ'S". A camera team filmed live performances of different DJs in clubs in Holland. I used to love this show and it looked so cool to be the DJ in a club. I wanted to do the same!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : You started producing in 2008, which trance style do you prefer to produce and play and who are the Djs / Producers that influenced you during these last years?

Virtual Vault : I'm trying to combine the new sounds with the old trance feelings. I like catchy melodies and euphoric breaks with a big climax. Of course Tisto inspired me, but I also really like the sound of Sander van Doorn and the W&W guys!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Where do you get your inspiration to create your music and what do you find in this music that can't find elsewhere?

Virtual Vault : Normally when I'm in the mood of making music I go to the studio and just start playing. Inspiration starts after trying some melodies and chords and when you hear something cool in it you don't want to stop anymore.

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : You are supported by famous producers such as Tisto, Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Corsten to name only a few and your tracks are signed on In Trance We Trust Records, a sub label to Black Hole Recordings. I think you should be very proud of the work you've accomplished so far?

Virtual Vault : I am very proud of course! For me this is just something cool to do, and when you see you get support from the big guys and people like your tracks that's a very good feeling. That's what it's all about!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Have you already worked with Black Hole Recordings before being known as Virtual Vault and what did you do?

Virtual Vault : About 6 years ago I started working in "Magik the Recordstore", Tisto's record store in Breda. After that, I moved to the Black Hole Office.

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : You made an impressive entrance on the scene with your first massive tune entitled "Request" in 2008, do you already producing before this?

Virtual Vault : Before "Request" I produced Trebbiano - Mulberry Harbour. I also have been producing for a bit longer, but nothing really worth releasing.

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : What can you tell us about your last track "Default" played by Tisto and Armin Van Buuren on Club Life & ASOT radio shows?

Virtual Vault : I produced "Default" quite fast. After playing the lead everything went by itself. The track gives me the oldschool feeling, a bit like Yves Deruyter - Feel Free.

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : This year, you released a Dj set on "Trance 2010" compilation produced by Wagram Music and exclusively available in France, what can you tell us about this compilation?

Virtual Vault : The A&R from Black Hole Recordings asked me if I would like to mix a Trance compilation for the French Market. Of course I said yes! The mix ended up being quite smooth and I really like the result. The other CD of the compilation contains a lot of big tracks of the moment!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Nowadays in France, Trance scene is in a big evolution. What do you think about that? You have never been performing in France for know, is it a destination that will interest you?

Virtual Vault : France is in the top 5 of Dutch holiday destinations. It is a beautiful country. I've been there quite a few times, also at Tisto parties (for example at Stade De France). I would love to play there in the future.

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Before, you also mixed an amazing compilation named "In Trance We Trust 15", it was important for you to released it?

Virtual Vault : Mixing ITWT 15 was a big honor for me. I've been working very hard on the tracks for the CD, and also tried to put as many new tracks from other producers on it. The collaboration with Orjan "Too Late" was almost really too late (laugh). We finished the track on a Saturday night, and I mixed the CD the next day!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Today, what can you tell us about your news, bookings, upcoming projects and what are your ambitions for the years to come?

Virtual Vault : Bookings wise, it isn't very busy for me now. I will play @ club OXA in Zurich on the 11th of December with my friend Dave 202. I am going to release the 2010 version of the ICE MC track "Think About The Way". And my new single "Causeway Bay" has already been supported by Tisto and Armin van Buuren!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : You are at the beginning of your career , are there things you definitely want to realize like playing in great events, producing your own album, creating your own label, working in collaborations with artists ?

Virtual Vault : I've already accomplished so many things in such a short time. It has all been great so far! Releasing an album would be cool. I really enjoyed making the track "Trapped Inside" with Ida Helen, and it would be nice to make more tracks in this vibe to put on an album. Combined with uplifting Trancers of course!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Besides music, how are your days organized, do you still find time for your friends, your hobbies or does your world wholly turn around music?

Virtual Vault : I have my regular job every day, so I work on my new releases at night and during the weekends. Time for friends and family is the most important of course! It's also nice to combine music and family time. My dad joined me last weekend when I was playing at Sonic15 in Basel!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : We arrive at the end of the interview but before, do you want to say anything else to your fans?

Virtual Vault : Keep enjoying the music!

Adrien (DJ New Mag) : Thank you very much Ben for giving us some of your precious time, it was a great pleasure to interview you and we wish you the very best for the rest of your long career.

Wow..."Trance 2010"...what an intriguing name for a compilation :stongue:

I'm sick and tired of DJ's using these kind of shots to make it look like they draw arena-sized crowds. This guy probably got a few tracks in at some festival and now it's the only photo he uses. Douchebag.

Lol...it sounds like he's putting his schlong up your ass here.

Does the sun inspire him to create euphoric cracker trance anthems?

All for the image then. I see.

I'm also sick of pictures like this. What the is with this staring stuff? Like he's some visionary or something.
