yes, i found this out not too long ago watching an episode of locked up abroad.
from what i still hear, they definitely still listen to their style of music but its done on a much smaller level. I wouldn't trek out there, but then again, i pretty much like a proper club night or enclosed tent |

I'm going to post this because I find it appropriate, though I originally posted it in an India thread of a different forum... Goa was the last stop on my trip, so I posted some pics toward the bottom (including Anjuna Beach) -
I stayed a couple weeks in Mumbai while I was playing in India at the end of 08. Actually, I left a couple weeks before the terrorist attacks, but I was staying at the JW in Juhu (which, thankfully, isn't one of the nice resorts that was hit). India is quite a trip. Mumbai is absolutely massive, and there is no order in terms of traffic. Horn honking is a language, not an act of animosity. I saw a family of 5 on a motorcycle - dad driving with a small one in the basket, mom holding two kids on the back. I saw a bus with no windshield (pic below). I saw cows chilling on the beach (because no one messed with the cow). There are some people in really bad shape, and there are also people living the life of luxury. There are tons of Hindus and Muslims all living near each other. Also a strong Jewish contingency in India... And I found it interesting how westernized some of the youth were. This girl I met, Aradhana, she had never been outside of India but seemed like she was fresh out of the UK... Her name for the Muslim women who wear the full black gowns was "Ninjas."
The place doesn't smell too pleasant, but there are some really beautiful parts of Mumbai (and the rest of India for that matter). I was able to visit Hyderabad and Bangalore on that trip, then I ended it off with some days in Goa, which was like a pilgrimage of sorts for me - and was the first time I had been by myself on the other side of the planet from everyone I knew - got a janky scooter for $3 bucks/day and got to ride it through the northern villages of Goa, on up to Anjuna Beach. It's an amazing place that I'd recommend anyone visit, very humbling, just make sure you eat responsibly and get your shots ;)
Some cool pics from my experience:
View from my room in Mumbai-

This dude laying on Juhu beach with his monkey!

Me and Infected's drummer (Rogerio) buying some beggar girls some food...

Dominos next to the hotel! Doesn't taste like it should lol...

This is half of the view from an Indian woman's pad (I don't remember her name). She was a friend of the promoter and invited a couple of us to eat at her place. She had servants and the whole nine yards... Nice place.

Taj hotel a few weeks before the attacks-

Bus without windshield... (this was in Bangalore, where the traffic is even worse than Mumbai)

There is Aradhana on the right (this is in Hyderabad)-

Saw one of these rickshaws take a corner too quick and it flipped, the people fell out and a bunch of Indians rushed to pick the thing back up. Tons of these taxi-type things around:

Goa

Anjuna Beach

Coconuts, Hash, Beach Shacks, Kingfisher... the good life:

Elephant?

Cow chilling on the beach-

Some really nice cathedrals in Goa, as it was a colony of the Portuguese, not the British:

I have so many other cool pictures, but I'm sure you are already sick of 'em! Anyway, point is, the place is great, you just have to be prepared for its nuttiness. |
