theres was some tips from beatport recently, something like this:
- pre-pre-pre release: talk about it out on social medias (facebook, myspace, twitter).
- pre-pre release: bump all the social medias with a sample/clip and send out promos to djs/radios.
- pre-release: make a hot youtube vid for the track and bump all the social medias. full track is now avaliable for preview. alert all fans.
- release-date: avaliable in stores, bump all social medias again for further annoyance.
- no-profit: fail (ok this one wasnt stated but the rest was). |

Well I get email and facebookd, soundclouded and myspaced all the time from labels and artists. I only listen to my soundcloud, but only if I see "this song has been sent to 4 people" because I'm not listening to it if you've sent it to 924850485 people.
Social media won't let you scream louder than anyone anymore, but it's a necessity just like having a website. There is never going to be another Tila Tequila imo, she took advantage of it because myspace was hot at the time before it became infested with bands. Not saying it can't be done, but it can't be done on a T Tequila level.
It's pretty hard to shout louder in the internets. Hustle outside, it's just as much hard work as making songs, but labels and promoters will listen to a guy they know than a random bedroom producer it seems. |

Maybe it's just me, but why wouldnt you want to come up with a name yourself that represents you and the music you produce? We're all different but damn.. Anyway, best of luck getting your stuff out there! |
