Cool... Maybe I'll wait to buy that audio interface after all.
I've heard that this might be getting used inside PCs too now. So as a replacement for all the cables that are currently used. That would apparently help speed things up too. |

yeah, that is where LP will really prove it's worth. |

USB3.0 is gaining ground quickly so I don't see it dying simply because of LP. This is still all speculation anyway, I won't believe it until I see it used by regular consumers. |
How can it quickly be gaining ground if the article is actually implying Intel is postponing USB 3? Intel is such a big player that I can imagine USB 3 will fail as long as they will not provide support for it. |

That was 4 months ago. Deals and plans can change. If Lightpeak is superior and can be made the standard, then it will. |

Yes, because Apple is merging the mini display port adapter and the "thunderbolt" light peak port into the same jack. |

How many jacks are there gonna be on these new macs though...
Because if you have an SSD external HD + Audio interface + monitor, all connected by lightpeak/mini HD port, then one isn't really going to work is it...
Apple has a shocking record when it comes to expansion and connectivity, look at the ipad ffs. |

| there will probably be some type of hub solution, like with usb. only it'd work better because of the increased bandwith. |
|

| and you mean monitor as in visual display unit right? i'd think that would still be using the hdmi output. i don't see the hdmi being obsolete for at least another ten years. just look at how long we used scart/rgb-cables. |

They do it to force people to upgrade once a new one comes out.
Hopefully that ty Apple attitude will change when Jobs isn't running the show any more. |

| Why would it? Its been highly successful because no PC manufacturer has built something with competing style, battery life or general vibe. Let alone marketing. |
