I usually listen to music when I'm on short walks, in the gym, or browsing the internet. But I've been unable to find a good place/method to listen to an ambient/chillout album in its entirety.
I don't find ambient albums suitable to listen to in those aforementioned environments. They're too busy and noisy and can be distracting from the relaxing nature of ambient music.
The only other time I listen to music is while I'm in bed before I go to sleep, but it's not working here because I usually end up falling asleep to ambient music before I get through the full album. Last night I got through half of Benn Jordan's Pale Blue Dot before dozing off to this track:
So for all the people who listen to these kinds of albums...what environments to do you listen to them in?
Halcyon+On+On

Sorriso
Or listen to it when driving long stretches of highway... Works for me ( although getting TOO relaxed could be dangerous of course haha )

This. Fun part is if you start to doze off again, you can get some pretty cool lucid dreams out of the deal.

Eat an entire 1/16 of a Xanax bar.
Nah but seriously, it's the best if you listen to it with your cans, possibly on a trip somewhere, if n/a, then get a cup of hot chocolate/tea, just sit down and listen to the thing.

1. Close all curtains, and switch off all lights and make sure you won't be
disturbed.
2. Lie on the floor, pillow under your head.
3. Close your eyes and relax.
4. Play album fairly loud and listen to the whole thing in one go.
