does anyone have any advice about getting into these kind of dreams?
are there any developed methods or techniques?
btw, if any of you know the label em:t, which released gems in the 90s by artists like Gas and Woob, there is an album dedicated to lucid dreams made by its artists in a collaboration with psychologist Celia Green:

it's somewhere between a lecture with a series of anecdotes, and some very good ambient sounds. |

| I've only ever had one lucid dream, but I know the key is remembering your dreams. The better you can recall them, the more coherent they become and the more control you have over them. Try writing your dreams down when you wake up. |

Must. Not. Advocate. Usage of drugs.
However, I could use some DMT right now. |

The lightswitch trick totally works. I'm amazed by how infallible it is.
Most of my lucid dreams involve gravity-defying fun. Pretty cool feeling to fall backwards forever. |

| Book yourself into a sensory isolation chamber aka floating in really salty water with no sound. I'm doing it for fun soon, just to see if its interesting. |

| take some melatonin at night before you go to sleep. stay in a comfortable dark spot with no sound and focus on listening to your heart beat and breathing techniques. and yes the light switch thing is awesome ive done it and nothing happened. not too sure about the mirror thing. |

i think ill try all these suggestions. btw bamski, when i munched shrooms this one session i went into a lucid state every time i closed my eyes.
the isolation chamber sounds interesting. i'll see if Toronto has such stuff.
i've had lucid dreams a fair number of times, less now that ive stopped fun with illicit stuff, but my dreams have never been set in a place with light switches |

To be honest, you're never specifically looking for them. It's a situation where you'll futilely flip one for a while before realizing the reason the lights aren't working is because you're dreaming. |

I don't think how you fall asleep has much to do with it. I think what System J said is most true, with being able to recognize common trends or aspects of dreams you have had before being very important. Once you recognize these aspects of dreams that you often have, you'll be able to realize you're dreaming and then take control.
The light switch thing, as people have said so far is somewhat true, but not in the context that they used it. Yes, flipping a switch in your dream does nothing, and thus lets you know it is a dream. This, however, is not always useful because if you're not already controlling the dream, you can't choose to flip the switch. It's all about recognizing differences between every day actions that you do while you're awake, and while you're dreaming.
Things like the light switch are very valuable in helping you separate your waking world from your dreaming world. When you flip a switch during the day, really look at your hand and concentrate on what you're actually doing. You can follow this same practice with anything you regularly do during the day. Look at your hand while you turn a door knob, focus on your hands when you pick up a pen or dial your phone. Recognizing differences in how these every day actions look while you're dreaming is important for being able to actually realize that you're asleep. |

you dont start dreaming until you are like 1-2 hours into your sleep.
i can see it working if you were sleeping for few hours..got up..and then tried this. |
