Kenny Larkin aka Yennek and Dark Comedy is one of the chief innovators of Detroit’s so called ’second wave’ of techno producers from Detroit, together with Richie Hawtin & John Acquaviva. In fact, he released his first 2 singles with Plus8, the duo's label in 1990. But, it wasn’t until 1992, when he founded his own label, Art of Dance, that he came into his signature sound. Under his “Dark Comedy” moniker, Larkin created ‘War of the Worlds,’ which went on to become a seminal dance floor techno classic for Derrick May’s Transmat Records, of which Larkin licensed the project to. After contributing the exquisitely beautiful and sublime tracks ‘Serena X’ (under the name Yennek) for the compilation Panic in Detroit and 'Tedra' on the hugely innovative Virtual Sex (Buzz) compilation, Kenny was pushed to the forefront of techno's soulful elite.
In 1994, Larkin shrewdly carved out his own classic sound when he signed to Warp Records, and released his first album, entitled Azimuth. The album was hailed by European and U.S. press as one of the most original techno albums to date and was voted by the Street Sound magazine as one of the top 50 Techno CD’s of all time.
Another album of his Metaphor lead him to be voted Detroits ‘Best Techno Artist of The Year’ at it’s yearly music awards over such other Legendary DJ/Producer contemporaries.
Techno would not be what it is today without the innovation of Detroit Techno pioneers Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Eddie “Flashin’” Fowlkes, The Electrifying Mojo (Charles Johnson), Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin, John Acquiviva and… Kenny Larkin.
So come out on Friday Nov 19 to King King, give respect and see and hear a REAL LEGEND showing you how amazing cutting edge techno & house music should be done.

Looking at the agenda for this weekend in LA, techno fans should feel a bit spoiled. Tonight at Medusa Lounge you've got Ben Klock, a core resident at Berlin's mighty Berghain. Detroit native Kenny Larkin will be in town as well for Incognito's party at King King Club on Friday. And the weekend wouldn't be complete without an underground event at a secret location, headlined this time by Minus and Wagon Repair artist Konrad Black.
