| you raise a good point, hope you checked out some other remixes to actually verify my claim. ofcourse music is subjective and it all depends on whos judging and what theyre personally looking for. i still dont think its a waste of time because of the points i made; im sure you agree and are not narrow-minded. |

i do agree, it's a good exercise but i think i would rather work on something that may potentially see the light of day. out of all of those remixes only a small batch gets looked at unless you bombard your friends to vote for you, for me to spend hours-days on something that may not even be looked at seems somewhat pointless.
the reason i've done a hernan remix was because there was no voting system which i really liked and i didn't have to buy the parts as well. |

you mean, that would return money to you on beatport/juno/etc via release?
like NuEra said, 4000's view is huge, and REALLY respectable imo. plus around 2000 more youtube video views, thats really the essence of making music, so that it gets heard and people being on the same page in terms of getting into the track. i believe he accomplished that, and I havent spoken to him about, but im sure he can always give it out for free to his fans. Its not always about the money and securing a release, actually these days its not at all, of course exceptions here, there are tons of people making good coin. i see your point, and we live in an very imperfect world :p |

i'm at work and you took my words out of context lol

i'm not just saying that, i have participated in 3-4 competitions, most times my remix got played maybe 10 times at most because it got buried beneath 450 other releases.

i won't but if you want something helpful i recommend visiting Production Studio and Music Producers Promotion forums like msz does.

I think these contests are great for up and coming producers to not only have highly respected DJs listen to their abilities but also a way to learn from other producers.
