Talking about Siegessaule:

You all know what's the story about the Gold Else, Loveparade, For an Angel?

If not:

For an Angel is the unofficial anthem for all Loveparades. It's a tribute to the Loveparade ravers.

Gold Else, on top of the Victory Column, is the centre of the event. She is the guardian of the event. So that is why Paul van Dyk dedicated this song to that angel.

She is also a symbol of freedom. PVD, being East-German, understands off course the importance of liberty...

That is why For an Angel is such a damn good song. Not only very well made, it has a deeper meaning. Trance has a lot to do with emotions, feelings etc. Off course many other songs carry a message (Such is life...), but this song reflects a whole movement, the Loveparade, Freedom etc etc

Amen!

that seriously made my eyes water
jploveparade
Bunch of grown-ups being sentimental about what IS a piece of art...

wonderful!

Btw: I think Cream (Blank&Jones) gives me the same feeling, although it does not carry so much weight as For an Angel. But that has something to do with their live performance at LP1999 :)

About For an Angel:

quote:
The first minute or so is just beats, with a hint of bassline coming in, but when the beats cut, and the soothing vocal voices "For an angel", and the synth builds a noise to kick back in, the tune REALLY begins. The bass has picked up a tune, and some mild melody, and then comes the breakdown. Pure trance heaven.

The tune just continues to build, and theres nothing that can beat the feeling of getting goosebumbs from hearing a tune that you love so much.

The worst part of the track is that it has to end!!

When i read that^^ I was like :D <<< me !! :)

some good info JP ;) I also wondered how the Dj's got to the trucks :)
jploveparade
The D.J.'s just walk to the truck around 13:00hr when they are parked at Brandenburg Gate and Ernst Reuter Platz. They show their VIP pass they got by mail (or handed out to them just before 'boarding')

I think most DJ's get a taxi or are being picked up by a minivan. At both ends of the Loveparade route it's not too crowded at 13:00hr.

Guys like PVD, Motte & Westbam have some security around them when they walk around.

jploveparade
At least all of us!
Tranzmit
The day i heard For an angel i was in South Africa travelling in 99 and i liked dance music but i'd really know trance at the time, anyways the radio was on and they said this is "For an angel by Paul Van Dyk, this is really nice" and i was just dumbfounded and I always have been by that song. Everytime they played that on the radio i'd run over and turn it up. The music video is so beautiful, it makes me want to cry. It's really amazing

That was the first time i realised i loved trance and was addicted
