Cliff, the trolley problem is a famous thought experiment in philosophy... they're concerned about ethics, so I don't think any of them actually lost some sleep trying to understand how trolleys work :p

The better would be a combination between the two...
A trolley car with a conductor is going down a hill uncontrolled. On the same track as the trolley is a work crew who will be killed. On a siding is a brick wall.
You are standing at the switch between the two tracks, you can throw the switch and kill the conductor of the trolley or let it continue and kill the work crew.
