It's been a while... new mix! (Nu-disco, nu-funk)

Well, it's been a while since I made a mix (a bit over a year)... been wanting to do a nu-disco tinged mix for a while, and going to see Tensnake in NYC finally gave me an excuse - make something for the drive in. There's not too many surprises on the tracklist, it's a lot of big hits that I've really enjoyed over the past year or so. It starts out kinda groovy, soulful... then gets into more Italo and house inspired rhythms. Please download and give me some feedback!

My thoughts exactly. This is an awesome set. I listened last night and now I'm half way through. I'd never listened to Tensnake's stuff until recently...as in last week recently. A bit embarrassing for me, but I don't follow this kind of music closely.
I was going to say that this sounds like it was mixed on vinyl, but all the tracks are too new. What did you use? CDJs with the pitch lock off? Besides a few small tempo changes, I thought the mixing was pretty good. |

Thank you so much for the comments, really really appreciate them! To be honest, I didn't use vinyl or CDJs, it was actually done with Virtual DJ, a Numark Total Control, and MP3s off Beatport/Amazon :p Pretty bare-bones setup but I make do. As for the pitch changes, the biggest challenge in constructing this set was the variety in tempos present. Do It To The Max is 98bpm, while Coma Cat is 120. A lot of the music in the set hovers around the 113-116 range. So getting from the beginning to the end required quite a bit of tempo increases.
And hey, better late than never to get into Tensnake :D |
