I'm planning to get rollerblades but have no idea where to start. What are the good brands and models? Approximately how much are they? What should I ask when buying them? Thanks! :)

If you're just doing it for fun then the most important thing is comfort. Good sporting store allow you to try them out (never buy without trying them on). Then pick the ones that felt good that are in your price range ($80-$150 usa will get you something decent). Price determines quaility not the brand name IMHO.

Personally, I have Teknica blades. There from Italy. I paid about $300 CDN for them, and absolutely love them. When you do start shopping, make sure that your bearings are either Abec 5 or 7, otherwise if you have anything lower, you wont get the speed you want. As for brands, trust anything by Salomon, K2, Teknica, Rollerblade and Bauer (those are the only ones I can remember) but also be prepared to pay a decent price for good skates.

jeez, my bike cost three times less. 3.6 years, jumping off every curb, and it's still intact. 5 flat tires though, but mostly because of nails. and you're talking about blades, man! for 300 bucks i would only put them on a shelf to look at. |

I'm willing to spend $350 on the skates. I've done a bit of research on brands and it seems like K2 and Salomon are the best. Now looking for a model...
