Ive been working through the excellent bass tutorial thread on the master tutorials link. I havent been producing for long so my bass lines are pretty awful at the moment. I was wondering if any one could give some advice on how I would go about creating a bass line from the following sample....

[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

I dont want to copy the bass line pattern exactly but it would be great to understand how I would start of trying to create something like this. It sounds very rounded and funky. My bass sounds at the moment sound very computerised and static. Is it the used of vibrato which makes this pattern flow??

any help on this would be great

thanks

I can't hear it for , but one tip I have is this:

When you are a really subby bassline, you can move it more off of the grid and get away with it sounding in time. You can't really do this with high frequencies.

Can you PM me the the name of the song of that bass sample? (love it):)
You can make that bass all day in Reason!
Do u want to learn how to make the bass patch?
Or you just want to Learn to play a funky house bassline?
AirPole
Hey that tune sounds wicked. what is it?

Anyway, I think it's bass sound made of layers. One is very subby created by a few oscillators with sine waves, the other somewhat more gritty sound is probably a 2 oscillators with saw waves. Both playing longer notes.

little bit of envelope control?
ambient_chris
thanks for the replies..

the track is from Danny Howell GU Miami CD 1 and is called AN-2 - Road Through The Rain (Steve Bug Mix). Great compilation and lost of similar sounding tracks

atxbigballer1 - yes I would like to be able to create such a bass patch. Not for the purpose of using the exact same pattern but just for understanding of how I would go about creating more complex bass sounds

Airpole I ill try that out thanks

Evolve140..can I ask what you mean by envelope control..is this envelope automation

Thanks
Zombie0729

Kenny Rogers
whats sad about that?

ambient_chris
Having logic is no bad thing I love it..

My last post was in reference to not being able to take atxbigballer1 on the offer in making a patch..
AirPole
Wow, a Danny Howells track. Well from one his compilations anyway. Used to love that guy! Anyway, I'm an avid Logic user as well. When I have time, I will try and see if I can emulate it.
