I managed to get in with a couple of buddies because i did see it said style code or whatever in the OP, so we wore our dudesy bro shoes.
I cant say it was all bad but definitely not the eddie I remember.
Did play way too much house and electro...The only thing that saved the set was a few good techno tracks, I think by UMEK...not sure though....not a techno afficianado but like it waaaaaay better than electro.
He seems to have lost his love for playin live too...he was still lively and did some sick with the decks/mixer but not nearly as nuts as he used to be. Place seemed pretty ghetto, yet was full of people in ties/bow ties, suits etc...strange. Bottle service area more full than dance floor most of the night...got the feeling these people didnt even know who the eddie was.
A few times the doormen pushed us away from the djbooth...wtf? why book a big name dj if you're not gonna let people get up close and enjoy it?
In the end eddie 6.0/10, Time 3/10, not goin back unless they book ing John 00 or someone else I love. |

Was thinking of going to Time for Michael Woods this Sat. After reading this stuff I think I'll head over to FW for Satoshi instead...
TIL has been the only place in my opinion to pull off any sort of dress code and still maintain a good vibe for the music fans at EDM events in Toronto. In general though dress codes at these things is dumb if you ask me. Let's face it in Toronto it's 80% dudes showing up to the shows so are we trying to impress, each other? Nothin beats dressin for comfort and just having a good time on the floor. |
