2010.12.13 The Damned Things @ Rebel - 7pm (metal/hard rock)

I'm not sure if any of you follow metal around here (besides Wayde), but I thought some of you might be interested in this. The Damned Things (a new metal/hard rock supergroup) are playing a show on Monday the 13th at Rebel, the day before their debut album comes out.

The band consists of:

Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die)
Scott Ian (Anthrax)
Rob Caggiano (Anthrax)
Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy)
Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy)

Yeah Fall Out Boy sucks, but this band is pretty promising. And with three guitarists they're probably going to shred people's faces off.

Scoops
saw Scotty a few months ago at some dive bar in long branch....was pretty chill spot for him to play

I am a big fan of metal but I wouldn't call this metal at all. Sounds more like butt rock to me. I'm disappointed from what I heard on their myspace considering the guitarists from Anthrax are members.

How about some black metal
get nyce
BAN this isn't trance and it's negative whining and bad for the scene

The guitars sound more metal than "butt rock" to me. The vocals aren't that heavy though, if that was what you were getting at.

I like the guitars in the song you posted, but I feel the vocals/drums don't match up well.

I'm more of a metalcore fan though...as Wayde puts it..."fake crap".

Bands like these:

If you are posting the date, time, location, etc. I would consider this an event thread.

Was hanging with Bobby from Biohazard one day and he said this "Those guys wouldn't know rock if a ing rock hit them in the face." in the most Brooklyn accent I have ever heard.

I think this applies here haha.

The Scott Ian band though interesting, unless it's SOD or Anthrax though i think im gonna pass...im more of a hardcore dude anyways:

All That Remains sounds like the sound track to a Barbie movie compared to these guys:

Just because a band screams more doesn't make them better. It's all subjective, but a lot of people seem to like the heavier bands solely because they scream more.

Pretty tame crowd in that video. The band in my avatar is pop-punk and their fans are a lot more crazy.

1. Not saying it's better, im saying that I feel, that the subject matter of their tunes and their sound is more raw than all that metalcore junk.

2. You obviously have never been to a Cold World show have you lol?

3. Maybe, but im not posting the video to show how the video is, it's a good tune, and those guys keep it real, from Boston.

i dont know man, ive never seen Pop Punk guys beat the out of each other. I usually see them wearing tight jeans and singing about how their girlfriends left them. Just sayin...

NYHC really brought about most of the metal core bands that are out there...without bands like Madball and Cro-Mags...that stuff wouldn't exist:

Then you have bands like Trapped Under Ice holding it down these days too not to mention the 100s of more underground hardcore bands that pop up all over the place:

Yeah, it's a very gritty sound. They dont have harmonizing guitars and jet black haired dudes singing with actual tone and melody in their voice, but these guys keep it real and have started it all.

Ok im done with my rant and homework lesson lol

How is it "more raw"? The lyrical content? Or musicality?

Show me another video then. Because IMO that crowd doesn't look that tough/crazy.

I think moshing is funny, but when it gets to the point where people are just slugging each other for no reason, then it's ing stupid. There's a difference between actual moshing/hardcore dancing and acting like a moron, which is what some showgoers do.

I got their Secrets of the World CD as a freebie and I couldn't get into them.
