try to keep it serious. |
Fair enough, I'll try.
It's obviously a very unfortunate situation. However, after digging a little deeper into the information posted on the site, I am very seriously concerned that a donation would serve no purpose but to enrich liars, frauds, and other peddlers of false hope.
Assuming this account is accurate, "deep " might be a bit of an understatement. Aside, of course, from her rather grim prognosis, I find this most troubling:
| quote: | | Research has shown that cancer cannot live in an alkaline body and therefore, Jenna is now on an alkaline-rich diet. Jenna has even gone to the extent that she has become fully vegan in eating habits. She has been increasing the intake of freshly juiced vegetables and fruits while closely monitoring her eating lifestyle. Jenna is also surrounded by a healing team which includes a Naturopathic doctor and getting support from intuitive healers and friends experienced in nutrition and supplements to build up her immune system. |
This is utterly pointless. An alkaline diet will not affect her cancer. You can read why here. Nor is investing in "a Naturopathic doctor" or "intuitive healers" likely to yield any benefit, beyond maybe a placebo effect.
It is understandable that when modern medicine has ostensibly failed, desperate people will turn to anyone left who claims to have a solution. Unfortunately, that is exactly the type of reaction that these frauds prey upon.
If she is indeed past the point of legitimate medical treatment, then the only people who would benefit from a donation are the people taking advantage of Jenna, her family, and her friends' vulnerable state to fill their own pockets. That is a cause that I cannot support.
Now, I don't want to suggest that there's no hope in pursuing treatment in the United States. I am neither sufficiently qualified nor sufficiently informed about her case to offer an opinion on whether that might be productive. However, I can say that it would be wise for Jenna and those close to her to stop trying every bogus treatment that some crackpot wrote an article about on the internet, and instead spend that time, money, and energy making the most of the only time they can count on having together: the present. |

oh i agree buddy, but im pretty sure the donations wont be going towards their internet bill and it will be going towards getting treatment in the states which is pricey. I will definitely get in contact with who I have to, to make sure that money goes towards that rather then vegetables and crackpots. |

o wow - this is so sad & she is so pretty!
I wish her the best and hopefully she can overcome this. I had a friend with this cancer but I don't think he was in her stage. He's ok now! |

| dam that was quick. I'm not very good with ppl who are going to die. I have an aunt and uncle who don't have long to live but I try not to think about it. I've visited them but it takes a lot of emotional energy. the irrationality and inevitability of death... |

| December is not the best month anymore. Father called me telling me his friend who I adored and treated me like a grandchild had a few days to live and passed away last week. This beautiful girl just passed and Raul's 1 year is coming up. Such a sad thing to deal with right before the holidays. Prayers go out to her fam and love for my friends :( |

Damn, RIP :( It's one thing when somebody dies and they're much older and have lived a long life, it's another thing to see somebody die so young........
This has been such a ty month. A girl I used to know really well was killed in a car crash about 3 weeks ago, another girl was killed about 2 streets away from me after her mom backed her car into her, and then like 5 days ago a girl I used to go to school with killed herself........ All were under 25 |

My condolences to you Eric and to the girl's family and friends. I always find solace in the comforting thought that they are no longer suffering..
I lost 3 people I loved this year - Raul, a close friend back home and my youngest uncle, he was murdered in his bed while he was asleep, and we still don't know what happened or who did it. It is tragic, and difficult to stomach seeing as we don't have answers. He was only 35.
