This promo mix is a unique one for me. I've assembled a Panel of 8 Dance Music enthusiasts to rank tracks from multiple genres and ultimately decide what tunes end up on the CD. The idea was to select the best tracks from multiple genres and mix them seamlessly in an effort to not only satisfy more tastes, but also introduce people to styles they might normally shy away from. I grouped 45 tracks from multiple genres into 3 main categories. Group 1 - House and Tech House. Group 2 - Electro and Big Room House. Group 3 - Dubstep and Breaks. There were 15 tracks in each group for the Panel to rank from 1 to 15. Once all votes were tallied, I took the top 5 from each group giving us 15 tracks total for the CD. For time purposes I also put the 16th and 17th ranked tracks on the CD. In order to keep the rankings based on the music alone I removed the names for the voters and just labeled them A through O. This was done so the Panel would have a fresh mind and not be able to judge the book by the cover.

The Girls
══════
Milissa Willey - My girlfriend and one of my biggest supporters. Long before we met she was an avid supporter of DJs in Vegas' House and Trance scene. She has also attended Burning Man and some of the West Coast's biggest parties.
Megan Nicotera - Known all throughout the Vegas scene as a true music lover and supporter of DJs. You will always see her smiling and dancing at some of the best parties in Vegas. She is also a regular attendee at the Electric Daisy Carnival and knows her stuff when it comes to dance music.
DD Nyx - One of 2 DJs on the Panel and most will know her from her radio show on XRadio.biz. She's a Turntablist, has a background in Florida Breaks, and plays a wide range of styles on her show. Both DJs on the Panel were selected for their broad tastes and fun attitudes.
Malia Christensen - One of my biggest supporters from the local Burning Man group. She knows good music and is someone you can always count on to spread good vibes around the dance floor.

The Guys
══════
Joey Burton - Longtime magician friend who came to Burning Man with me for the first time this year. Joey was selected because his honesty and passion to find new music. He also is a big Dubstep fan which needed to be represented on the Panel.
Leo Diaz - Another magician friend but he is also the other DJ on the Panel. Dubbed the Abbra-ca-DJ by Jeff McBride, Leo has been involved with the rave scene for years dating back to his days promoting with Insomniac in Cali.
JD Estrada - Another first time Burner in 2010 who camped with us at Black Rock Syndicate. JD knows his music and is on top of the latest tracks that are released. As a DJ its nice to learn about new music from guys like JD who are like and you and just want to share good music.
Arron McKinney - Another one of my biggest supporters that was at the top of my list for the Panel. If you've met Arron he's probably already told you to check out my Soundcloud. A shameless promoter and a person I can count on for honest rankings.

Analysis
═════
Most the big vocal tracks made it through with exception of Red Room by Dennis Ferrer. Even though that was a number 1 track on Beatport, no one was really feeling the vocal. The third group had 8 breaks tracks and 7 dubstep tracks in it. Only one Breaks track made the cut which is Bangkok (Krafty Kuts Re-Rub.) Its really an Electro track with a Breakbeat re-rub and a nice little vocal snippet. The Chali 2na rap on Track 4 was actually an acapella I was mixing on a 3rd deck. Tried to slip in an old Rennie Pilgrem Breaks track from the 90's but no one was feeling that either. The few Acid Techno style tracks also didn't fare too well. Its clear that people want either a catchy vocal, some grimy or wobbly bass, or a combination of the two. Either way I'm very satisfied with the mix and I hope it inspires someone at some level.

Funny guy. The point of the Panel was not seek out people with Credentials.
It is about rewarding fans and supporters and letting them ultimately decide what music should be on a mix. As DJs we have one viewpoint on what music we should be playing but your fans may have a different viewpoint all together.

Well it has 7 different genres on it so I would say that is a multi-genre mix.
1. House
2. Techno
3. Progressive House
4. Indie Dance / Nu Disco
5. Electro House
6. Breaks
7. Dubstep
There is more Electro House and Dubstep tracks than the other genres because those are the tracks that got voted in. If I would've been the sole person choosing the tracks I probably would've just put 1 or 2 Dubstep tracks on the mix and not as many vocal tracks. But I surrendered to the process and can confidently call it Multi-Genre.
