seems like Reaper forum to me ;)
my answer in todays easier setup is: expensive soundcard+monitors, take a loan if u cant afford it. youll save yourself years of time.

I love eaves dropping at guitar centre when the local "engineer" is talking shop. Some of the things they say are so damn funny. I've often felt like budding in and actually give him some proper advice so he doesn't buy something stupid but oh well. I remember the guy trying to sell a pro tools rig instead of cubase even though he had a soundcard stating that protools just sounds better. There is a reason it is the industry standard. Cubase sounds thin and lacks headroom. Aye.

They do the same thing at the local shop over here, could seem like they get some extra in their paycheck if they can sell some Pro Tools.

Seeing as they are all commission based, you'd be right.
