Squillace @ Stereo review

So i went to montreal to watch the ufc and it just so happens that Squillace is in montreal with Luca Bacchetti at Stereo,I've been wanting to check this place out and Squillace is one of my favourite dj's so a perfect opportunity.
The club is awesome and the sound system is incredible, the vibe of the place is great also everybody is there to have a good time and dance... people are actually moving and seem full of life all night for an after hours club their is pretty decent looking girls there also.
The resident dj (i think named mouse) was impressive! she had this nice slow deep bass sound something similar to Carlo Lio and I was very happy with her opening set she definitely knows how to open.
I was excited about seeing Luca Bacchetti and he started off exactly how i thought he would deep house with a nice groove, but it seemed to stay at that (minus the groove) with it rarely picking up at all and if it did it was for one track with very suspect mixing... he reminded me of villalobos at maison playing for himself and sure the crowd was grooving but if their was another room i bet people would of went to that. Luca after giving you so much of the same thing over and over with the occasional good track.. the best way to put this is he over stayed his welcome,just when you would think he was done it he kept going or he would throw that good track in then follow up with bad tracks, no flow at all and i am so disappointed where i would think to myself this guy made it and i bet 3/4 of Toronto dj's would show this guy up any day! i was told by others that he was putting them to sleep and he almost made me leave and miss Squillace.
Squillace was incredible he did what i was expecting Luca to do... similar styles but Squillace had that bounce with these nice sounds of various instruments and his awesome use of effects, i got to talk to him for a couple seconds as he walked through the club and seemed surprised that i knew who he was and that pronounced his name right lol. As the night went on he picked it up keeping the same groove just harder the tracks got deeper in bass with his use of filters he would make the drops sound incredible! I wish i had a i.d for this saxophone track near the end it just sounded really deep and for how tired I was it made me dance harder than I did the whole night. Sadly my friend was really tired around 8:10 so we had to go and i needed sleep for tonights event.
Stereo I'll say it again the club is awesome! I can't wait to come back, the staff and doorman were really nice also and the club is very very clean! people respect it and it was nice to see.
Mouse - was great perfect job opening
Luca - makes some good tracks but i don't know if i would pay to see him again
Squillace - blew me away surpassed my already high expectations on him
Stereo - I know I am late but it's a must go spot |

nice review!
it was a really good night (not packed this time so many good spots to dance) and mouse did a sick set... the track she put I think before the last one blew me away...
then luca that I have never saw him, not so much my cup of tea in terms of tracks put pretty good mixing! and squillacce for 3rd time was completely mental! |
